    I worked at Learfield Communications

    Pros

Great hands on experience and a challenging work flow. Some deadlines were tight and you had to create a plan of action for the repetitive tasks to help speed things up.

    Cons

Although working the games is extremely fun, it definitely cuts into you're social life on the weekends. But if you don't mind catching a game and doing some fun promotion based work it is a great job for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the interns to stand out on a corporate based level (i.e. competitions) and not just rely on GMs and AEs to pass along the feedback.

    Play by Play Announcer Review

Current Employee - Radio Play By Play
Current Employee - Radio Play By Play

I have been working at Learfield Communications as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

From a broadcaster's point of view, Learfield offers just the right amount of support to do my job. They trust me to be professional and do not over-manage the day to day functions of the job, allowing me to exercise a certain amount of creative control over each broadcast. That approach motivates me to reward their trust with well-prepared, professional broadcasts every game.

At times, their support is needed, for travel, equipment issues, etc. and the local and corporate managers are always ready and willing to address each issue I bring to their attention. I have also been very satisfied with the compensation.

    Cons

Initially, it was an adjustment to understand the Learfield approach compared to what I was used to working for a radio station but I quickly caught on and have had no problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As long as local and corporate support teams continue to be available when needed, announcers will be happy and motivated.
