Pros
Providing assistance at a difficult time for those in transition
Opportunity to work with smart colleagues and candidates (clients)
Very rewarding work
Cons
Compensation and advancement for consultants
Pros
The people at the office levels are very committed to what they do and generally very skilled. The work we do is exceptioinally rewarding. In my office, we have a lot of autonomy to serve our clients in the best way possible.
Cons
Senior management sends very mixed messages on their committment to quality service. The value we provide is largely based on the value individual consultants give to their clients. This group is undervalued and seems to be the primary target for cost savings. They do this by trying to increase client loads beyond what is reasonable.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be greedy. Strive to be the best not the biggest. Sell value. This service is not a commodity. Do not get drawn down that path by the competition. Insist on maintaining the high delivery standards we expect at LHH. And continuously improve our delivery model in more ways than technology.
Pros
Ethics, expansive client offerings, employee training, rich web application for clients, attract excellent employees, progressive, well organized, professional, customer centered
Cons
Decreasing contract job opportunities and contracts
Pros
Work/life balance and open door management policies.
Cons
Very minimal opportunities for professional growth and advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Develop current colleagues and show your appreciation for how well they do thier job; in return you will receive loyalty
Pros
The people and the culture. The team with which I am affiliated has a high level of integrity and we trust each other.
Cons
The compensation is not the reason that a person would be drawn to this organization. The value is in the intrinsic rewards, not the extrinsic rewards.
Pros
Professional and support staff consistently go above & beyond to ensure that individuals have a 'value add' experience. Staff come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines ... great for getting another perspective on problem resolution and getting someone else's perspective on an idea.
Cons
Pay for associates/colleagues is not designed to attract, retain and develop ... and office management expect more hours than an associate is paid.

Pros
Great people with a passion for the work they do
Good work/life balance
Focused on the customer
People really care - outplacement services are robust and the consultants are totally dedicated to their clients
Cons
Political - tenure and relationships often (but not always) trump performance
Lack of consistency in applying policy
Little investment in employee training and dev
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in employee development - you will get the returns
Set a new standard on decision making - guide decisions on business judgement versus politics
Pros
We truly make a difference in our clients lives. They are in a fragile and bewildering place and we are able to walk with them through a very difficult time, and are priviledged to witness their landing new and wonderful opportunities. In a market space where competition touts that all people want is virtual service, we see first hand that people use virtual tools but need personal support.
Cons
Not certain that our senior management back east really understands what it is like to work daily in an office with our clients. It is one thing to have worked in the field 15 years ago, but today is different, and I don't think they truly understand the agility we demonstrate on a daily basis.
Salaries are very low here: management doesn't want to acknowledge this but it is true. We work at LHH for the passion of the work, not the compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Get out into the offices and observe, not dictate. Be open to changing your minds and looking at the total picture.
Pros
Exposure to Fortune 500 companies. Built skills in training and group facilitation.
Cons
Materials are dated and not kept up to date with the current employment atmosphere. There is no feedback on performance...if you are still working for them, you have to assume you are doing an ok job. That assumption may be mistaken however...I've seen colleagues called back for contracts who are known "poor performers", but they are TRAINED so are USED regardless of skill level. Makes the rest of us uncomfortable.
Advice to Senior Management
Get into the field and talk 1:1 with the CA's. Provide feedback. Reward achievements. Let go of poor performers, don't just move them to another project.
Pros
LHH provides good service in all aspects of career management which includes career transition and leadership consulting. The strength of the company lies with the delivery arm
Cons
LHH senior management does not have a good grasp of what is going on in the trenches while setting unrealistic expectations which are micromanaged
Advice to Senior Management
The executive team should visit a variety of offices and spend time (at least a week) working from the field to better understand the challenges that are faced on a day to day basis
