    It's an uphill battle.

    Senior Auditor (Current Employee)

ProsMost of the people are good hearted and they actively attempt to obtain a family atmosphere even though it's a medium-sized firm.

ConsThe benefits package is deceptive. They do pay the deductible, but because it is an HSA plan, the deductible runs out very quickly. As with most accounting firms, they are slow to change and have a difficult time accepting new methodologies.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should be more open to outside processes and opinions.

Very good overall, but tend to micromanage

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsGood people who are smart and work hard. Generous time off, good benefits package overall. Nice location in downtown Chicago. Discounted parking for employees. Good career path for accountants. Pretty good work/life balance since you don't have to work 50+ hours a week. Not expected to work crazy hours.

ConsCan be micromanaging. For example, have to report to receptionist if you are leaving the floor to go downstairs to get coffee and when you go to lunch. Lunch breaks closely monitored. Attendance scrutinized. Accounting staff given much more freedom and favoritism than non-accounting staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn the year 2012, realize that people do not want to be micromanaged and employees are adults. Doesn't reflect well when favoritism is shown more toward accountants/CPAs.

    Ok for first job.

Staff Accountant (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ConsLower pay in comparison to other public accounting firm. Client's are often in bad neighborhoods.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompensate better or top talent will continue to leave.

Great people, Still Working on Improving New vs. Old Mentality

Senior Accountant (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsGreat group of co-workers with a lot of young professionals. The company is moving forward in improving technology and going green. Amazing health benefits package and paid time off benefits from the start. Also get the ability to work flex scheduling as you are promoted.

ConsThere is a large gap between much of the working staff's age group and the upper management which causes a bit of disparity in what new professionals are looking for in a workplace. Over time they improved this mentality to conform with younger employee wants & needs. Would have liked to see more feeling of trust in the younger individual's ideas about technology and efficiency.

Advice to Senior ManagementWould have appreciated a more open environment for the younger professionals to give suggestions to upper management. Also would be helpful for the company as a whole for there to be upwards reviews periodically to help improve everyone's working abilities in all aspects as the workplace environment rapidly changes.
