    Very disappointing!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat place to learn about top-notch client servicing as clients are really the top priority!

ConsEven in a worse shape than other Legg Mason affiliates/subsidiaries.
Negative, chaotic, and toxic work environment.
Incompetent senior management, desperately clutching at straws for solutions.
    No leadership.
No long-term strategy for organizational growth and/or improvement.
Great if you are portfolio manager, but everyone else is treated like a second class citizen.
Lots of "dead wood" employees just serving their time until their retirement.
Academic and professional calibre of employees in general is poor.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe rot is worsening on a daily basis. It's reached a tipping point so do something about it rather than sticking your head in the sand and hoping things will improve by themselves.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Collegial investment environment populated with a team of professionals committed to clients

    Portfolio Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe client centric and investment culture at the firm is very clear. At all levels of Legg Mason Investment Counsel the staff is extremely sensitive to client service. Many employees have been at the firm for many years and enjoy strong bonds with their colleagues. Executive management is thoughtful and willing to listen to many points of view.

ConsDominance of investment and client service focus takes attention away from sales effort and growing the business. There are a small number of offices which limits relocation opportunities.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to identify growth opportunities and improve awareness of brand in marketplace,

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
