I worked at Lenox Group as an intern (more than 10 years)

    Pros

When I was hired in 1998 and Lenox was owned by Brown Forman it was a Fantastic Company. Could not have asked for a better run company, products to sell or better conditions. It truly was a dream job in the Inside Sales Department.

    Cons

Brown Forman decided to sell the company to Dept.56 and that is when things went bad. With each company that purchased Lenox after Dept.56 failed, I slowly saw this company decline in almost every way. Very sad....I left on my own after no pay raises in over 10 years and could no longer stand to watch this wonderful company be mis-managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell to someone that really cares about this business & its employees and save Lenox. Take a look at all the loyal employees that have been there for many years without even a cost of living raise even with all the hikes in benefit contributions.

    Pros

nice facility, benefits are above average, great location easy on commuters

    Cons

Run by out of touch old men, cronyism is rampant...give good people walking papers and replace with "consultants" mostly investment board members....moral is about the worst thing I have ever encountered. CEO actually used employee christmas luncheon as a business meeting to berate departmental and divisional failures, most of the people who cared have either left on their own or been replaced by Clarion lapdogs and yes men.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Freshen things up! New bold initiatives and an investment in the employees and infrastructure of the company is sorely needed. Update your technology!

I worked at Lenox Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Salaries are very good for the area. Immediate supervisor was fantastic! Worked at Lenox for nearly 10 years. LOVED it when I started...and for the first 4-5 years. Then is was sold to Department 56.

    Cons

Wow! Where to start? Upper Management is clueless. CEO is out to line his own pockets. Takes a limo from NYC to work....but no raises in years. They lay off lower level people, then hire their cronies to do the same work...at a significant pay increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to your roots. Get rid of everyone at the top....especially Peter Cameron!

I have been working at Lenox Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice people to work with, sample sales, location

    Cons

No company morale, no bonus, no raises, not a place for career advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The employees help make the company what it is... give back to the employees... make them feel special and important that they work there... morale is very important

I have been working at Lenox Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people work for this company! good work life balance.

    Cons

I've worked for Lenox for almost 10 years, and its going downhill fast. It certainly doesn't seem like the higher ups care as long as money is going in there pockets. Morale is bad because we haven't gotten raises in over 7 years. They lay off the people that actually DO the work and then give promotions to people in higher management! On top of that we pick up more brands, yet we have no money? To much work for the amount of people we have left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get with the trends! Upper management are old and micromanage. Listen to your people and your CUSTOMERS, not just WHAT YOU LIKE or your FRIENDS AND FAMILY like. Stop bringing in consultants and your friends that know nothing to fill in positions you lay people off from.

I worked at Lenox Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, able to have balanced life

    Cons

Too much work, raises have been frozen for 5 years yet workload increased with constant layoffs. Upper management out of touch- very old

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to stay current, there needs to be a younger feel to the company and product.
