Pros
Competitive pay rate, Co-workers are great people to spend your day with. Manager is great at his job and cares about his employees.
Cons
There is not enough training within this company. Assistant managers are not great with employee's. The work performed is very strenuous and you are expected to be running all day even if you work a 10 hour day.
Advice to Senior Management
Some better training would go along ways. Listening to employee's concerns. Overall my manager is great at his job. Just a few things could use come working on.
Pros
Some great people in the stores, remaining Prineville operations, and much of the Bend HQ.
Very good benefits for retail.
Still a lot of employees who exemplify the best of the company Les built.
Very nice bonus program.
Generous short term disability
Cons
Not great base pay for non-management professionals (salaried/exempt)
Time off not very competitive (vacation)
Many HQ managers pile the work on their exempt staff so they can avoid paying overtime to hourly staff.
Many employees not happy but stay due to the poor economy in the area or because they are too close to retirement.
There was much resentment from many employees when managers return from plush company trips to Hawaii when staff had not gotten raises for 3+ years, and many employees had been let go due to down business.
Many comments from employees that "the lawyers are running the company now. "
Those who speak up about poor conditions find themselves on the street soon.
Advice to Senior Management
We all understand that the family (shareholders) ask you to manage the company for them, and keep it profitable, but you need to take a long honest look at some of the so-called leaders at all levels, and get input from line employees who are increasingly at risk of leaving when the economy improves. Many of the HQ managers only know how to manage by intimidation or by belittling employees. At its best, those are medieval practices that do not encourage the best in ult inmoreemployees. At worst, it is a form of bullying which lessens your ability to attract and retain employees and may result in more costly charges and lawsuits. So many good employees have been forced out and you risk losing more.
Pros
Pride, never boring. Good employee discounts.
Cons
Physical labor in a fast paced environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Update the software and pay better.
Pros
Great pay and benefits offered.
Cons
You work like 50 to 60 hours a week somtimes.. Good pay but it wipes you out
Pros
The pay and benefits are probably at the top of the industry.
There are several different career paths to choose from.
Decent fringe benefits.
Cons
No encouragement to learn or grow from management. You have to do everything for yourself.
Not enough time allotted to training.
Poor employee retention rate.
Advice to Senior Management
For a company that boasts to grow their employees, management needs to focus more on education, training and employee relations and less on their margins. It is managements job to be concerned with profits but I would describe some of their tactics as "cut-throat". Management needs to respect their employees and realize that they are generally unhappy and constantly working for fear of their jobs.
Pros
Not much My manager was nice thats all i can really say
Cons
Long hours, Sometimes you would have to eat your lunch in the tire bays, Was never given a raise even though the manager told me numerous times i would receive one, Pay was not worth the work and time you spent at the store normal hours were 7am to 7pm at night every day with 2 days off a week and backbreaking labor
Advice to Senior Management
The little guys are what is making this company run you need to support them!

Cons
Upward movement slow and bottle necked.

Pros
Some of the best reasons to work here are the benifets good pay and oppurtunity to be able to move up in to management.
Cons
some cons are that it can be really labor intensive.
Pros
Les Schwab offer benefits that many other employers don't. Among these are Medical, Dental and Vision. as if these weren't enough they also provide ample opportunities for overtime and discounts on tires, brakes, shocks and other parts. They also pride themselves of the ability to advance there employees. All in all a great opportunity
Cons
There are only a few down sides to working at Les Schwab Tire Center. Our work is quite often out in the elements, which unfortunately can lead to the sniffles. The other obvious downside is that it the is a laborious job so minor aches a pains are daily occurrences
