Pros
Friendly co-workers, comfortable work environment, better than average benefits and salary, work/life balance
Cons
Processes not documented, "hard to follow" rules of engagement, generic position titles does not reflect position responsibilities - hard to determine chain of command
Advice to Senior Management
Align positions and naming convention to allow better understanding of how organization fits together. It's not obvious who does what or who works for whom. Document processes to eliminate running around in circles, wasting time. No one seems to know exactly how to get things done. People Managers needs to manage instead of being individual contributors with Management title.
Pros
Challenging projects and great work-life balance in some areas of the company. Chance to make a difference and many choices of areas to work in.
Cons
If you are expecting a perfect job, location, project or exactly the right amount of management or credit, you may be disappointed. But this is really not any different than anywhere else.
Pros
Solid benefits and pay. The Network it self is a good product.
Cons
comp plan is written in jibberish. No one understand it. If you go to Management and ask to explain it they can't understand it either. Provisioning is a nightmare
Advice to Senior Management
Where do I start???
Pros
Money pay very well if you started with Company
Cons
See above so many cliches and mini kingdoms no clear vision
Advice to Senior Management
get a clear decsion
Pros
Can not think of any.
Cons
Service delivery is a joke
Bad customer service
Marketing dept is MIA
Bad financial situation
Advice to Senior Management
They should go to BK and restructure the whole company again. Higher managers from a wining organization.
Pros
Exciting work atmosphere with lots of growth potential; fun to be involved in changing the way the world communicates and providing bandwidth for things new businesses like Netflix to grow; neat office campus;
Cons
They started laying people off; there was a "glut" of bandwidth that they were selling (time will tell if things will recover); everyone was working really hard so work-life balance was out of whack;
Advice to Senior Management
Even if the future looks uncertain and risky, try to find a way to keep the morale high or people who are still there
Pros
Compensation and benefits are fair to above average.
Cons
Most managers manage perceptions from above as opposed to focusing on core problems and generating solutions. Lots of finger pointing - very political. Job stability is nil due to constant reorganizations. Sooner or later, no matter how good you are, you will work for someone who does not like you and get fired. Senior management seems to be too cushy with teh Board and there is little accountability as a result. Anyone below this level is considered a replaceable commodity.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote cross-functional and departmental teamwork and hold people accountable for doing this. Embrace opinions you don't necessarily agree with and people will start to tell you the truth. All the knowledge you need to take the company to teh next level is already inside the company, but the culture and environment guarantees you will never get to use it productively.
Pros
Good pay, benefits, and the people are great
Cons
Inability to finish many of the major initiatives undertaken
Pros
Latest technology deployment. Great Sale Engineer. Willing to do what it takes to win deals.
Cons
cost for on-net installation. approval process. lack of competitor infromation on pricing. no hosted phone service.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by example.
Pros
culture, collaboration, trust. haven't met an unhappy co worker yet. we like working here
Cons
comp could be a bit higher
