Former Employee – worked at Lewis PR Inc full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I’ve worked at several large PR agencies and the biggest thing that sets LEWIS apart is the culture. From the moment you start, they make you feel like you are part of a family. It’s not just the amazing employee bonding days – day trip to wine country, anyone? – but the fact that they provide the training and support that enables you to professionally grow and really go the extra mile to make you feel like a valued part of the team. In an industry that is constantly evolving, LEWIS also encourages employees to explore areas of interest and provides many opportunities to branch out from traditional roles.
Cons – No matter how you slice it, PR is a fast paced and demanding job. LEWIS provides a lot of opportunities for growth, but people that aren't proactive by nature might find this work environment challenging.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue hiring young, smart talent that will grow with the agency.

Pros – I have learned a TON working at LEWIS! The people here are great, and if you have a positive attitude and are willing to dive in, wear many hats and aren't afraid to step up and take on opportunities when they arise, you will be recognized and rewarded for your efforts. Also, the kitchen in the San Francisco office has BEER TAPS!!!
Cons – Occasionally you will have to deal with a prickly client, but that is typical in any agency role. Also sometimes you may have to put in a few longer hours - but see above in regards to beer taps.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't be afraid to mix up the teams - make some changes and reorganize. Some of the folks we have are often great people but in the wrong role.

Pros – Besides great colleagues, LEWIS is known for its competitive benefits and salary packages. There are many opportunities to grow, but one has to work hard for them!
Cons – Company politics, long hours, high stress.

Former Employee – worked at Lewis PR Inc full-time for more than a year
Pros – Some cool clients.
Opportunity to learn quickly if you fall under the right manager.
Good digital offerings.
Cons – Incredibly top heavy environment. Understaffed at lower levels. Opportunity seems to lessen as you progress. Promised opportunities, such as working abroad, are much more difficult to achieve than let on. Training and development is not as promised. Expectations are way too high. There is no work life balance and the stress level is very, very high. Management is very stingy and doesn't take into account the well-being of junior staff. Would definitely not recommend it to anyone SAE or under.
Advice to Senior Management – Think about your junior staff because they are the ones who do the grunt work that keeps the company going. When they are unhappy, think of ways to make them happy rather than punishing them.

Former Employee – worked at Lewis PR Inc full-time for more than a year
Pros – High profile tech clients, interesting work, exposure to some very smart people. If your'e really into tech companies, you'll learn a lot and get to work with some cool companies.
Cons – I encountered some of the rudest, most patronizing people I've ever met as colleagues and management. I'm not sure why the majority of people are like that, but greediness and power is definitely present. Mostly female, the girls are caddy, juvenile and may or may not be gossiping about you behind your back (literally). Some of the things that were said to me and the way I was treated while I was there is unbelievable. The divide between junior and senior employees is strong and junior employees are very much treated as inferiors at times. If you do work there, and think something isn't right, bring it up with HR. They will likely be able to remedy the situation for you.
The other con that I see now that I work in a more integrated marketing environment is that the experience you'll gain is likely media specific. This works well if you're at a PR agency, but if you want to branch out to another company, more marketing skills will he helpful and you probably won't have time to learn those at LEWIS.
Advice to Senior Management – Take the time to foster a happier work environment where people are genuine and not mean spirited or greedy. Don't worry about so much about getting the most $$$ possible out of clients, make sure they are a good fit for the team and the culture too. Be more ethical!

Pros – LEWIS empowers every employee to contribute to client campaigns, the culture of the individual office & the direction of the agency overall. ACs are generally client facing & expected to pitch, & everyone up to & including sr. mgmt is involved in campaign creation & execution. Not only do staff learn & grow quickly, their work is recognized by the trust LEWIS puts in them, regardless of level.
Cons – LEWIS is a great place to work if you really want to contribute. But for those who are just looking for a "punch the clock" environment in which you simply complete tasks you've been assigned and aren't willing to step out of your comfort zone, I think LEWIS' energetic culture might be overwhelming.
Advice to Senior Management – Management has done a great job recently bringing new people on board with specializations & industry areas of expertise beyond traditional PR. Keep doing this as it will only make LEWIS a better place to work as the industry continues to change.

Pros – LEWIS PR's DC office provides an environment that enables each individual to make what they want out of their career and go after the skills/clients that you want to represent. Led by one of the most creative and passionate PR pros I have ever worked with, the LEWIS DC office is filled with driven, talented and motivated employees. Not only have my colleagues mastered the 'block and tackle' of traditional PR, but we have all made a conscious effort to learn new skills within social and SEO.
Cons – Although I have thoroughly enjoyed the time that I have worked at LEWIS, every job has its cons. I would like to see more coordination between the US offices and a better training program for mid-level employees. Most of the senior-level executives have been with the company for several years and it would be great to have more insight and visibility around how to grow into the VP-level / AD-level roles by hearing first-hand experiences.
Advice to Senior Management – In order to keep young and smart talent within the company across the US, I would recommend implementing more of a spot bonus/reward program during times that raises are not an option. We have dedicated individuals and this type of program would help retain employees & reduce turnover.

Current Employee – been working at Lewis PR Inc
Pros – The quality and diversity of clients.
An outstanding team that is always innovating.
Expertise in social / digital media.
The company has continued to grow through a tough economy.
As far as I can tell, the benefits are very competitive.
Working with clients internationally and working with other LEWIS offices around the world.
A relatively new VP that has brought more of sense of humor to the culture and new processes that help us do our jobs.
Cons – The current time sheet system is a pain.
The SF office is quickly running out of space and there's a shortage of conference rooms.
