  1. Much better than working at a nursing home, but still not great.

    Pros

Twelve hour shifts, great benefits, good pay, and plenty of hours to pick up.

    Cons

PRN doesn't qualify for benefits or holiday pay, only 3 holidays qualify for holiday pay, you are assigned mandatory holidays of you're full time, and team work between nurses and CNAs can be a challenge (depending on the nurse).

    Advice to Management

Improve communication and team work among nurses and CNAs. For the most part a lot of nurses (not all) do not respect CNAs and when the CNAs need help they can't help, but when the nurse needs something done it takes priority. This is unacceptable because it has to do with a lack of respect of the CNA, we are supposed to work together not against each other. Just because they are a nurse it doesn't make the CNA any less or their personal worker bee. They need to be more understanding and helpful because many of them were once a CNA too and they know this job is not easy. Besides I'll work much harder for a nurse that lends me a helping hand then a nurse that orders me around and only expects me to help them.

    Pros

Close to home. Great patients. I cannot think of 20 words.

    Cons

Drs. Are treated like Gods with no consequences for how they treat patients or staff. Low pay for high stress. High turn over and never enough staff. Upper mgt does not seem to care about the middle guy that does all the dirty work.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth and the amount of stress of the job. Make sure your prn staff is sufficient to cover on short notice.

    Pros

The staff was very kind and understanding. The options and benefits were also very nice. Good pay.

    Cons

During the holidays work became very stressful. Seniority seemed to someone's get in the way, but extremely rarely.

    Advice to Management

Having more patience with the staff they manage. Being more firm with the physicians and taking more responsibility.

    Pros

State retirement, good coworkers and sense of teammwork among regular staff

    Cons

Management does not care about employees. Regularly place unfair and inaccurate judgement on employees. Company no longer appreciates the value, ideas, integrity and innovation of staff. Only concerned about the bottom line

    Advice to Management

Can't care for people if you don't care for people.

    Pros

Lexington has great people with a wonderful feeling of the whole organization working as a team. When issues occur, they place focus on fixing them, not placing blame.

    Cons

Despite trying, I cannot think of any cons large enough to point out – the worst that can be thought of is the 5 pm traffic surrounding the hospital, but even this is not that bad!

    Advice to Management

Continue keeping communication lines open between staff and top management.

  9. Friendly and family oriented hospital setting.

I worked at Lexington Medical Center

    Pros

The work environment is pleasant and your co workers are friendly and knowledgeable. The benefits are awesome including south carolina retirement benefits and 401 K.
Great opportunities for ceus and continuing education.

    Cons

Some challenges are time commitments, as far as you can run into overtime due to heavy caseload.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to your staff and take good care of your nurse techs they are most often overwhelmed.

    Pros

The personal growth, benefits, and family atomosphere..

    Cons

I can't say there is a downside but sometimes the workload can be a little hectic. But it's to be expected when you have such a high volume of traffic. It still was a great place to work.
