    Pros

Great place to work, but it seems like they are winding down the staff in the NYC/NJ area. Mike was once very visible now he hardly even talks in the elevator..

    Cons

seems like they are outsourcing more and more work, and losing what was unique about the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to share more about what the real plan is. Mike needs to stop hiding from the firm

    Pros

Wonderful co-workers, great pay and benefits. Fun perks like parties, happy hours, etc.

    Cons

Mismanagement is rife, flagship products don't work, pressure is unbearable. Just this year, a woman in her thirties had a stress related stroke, and two other people had to take short term disability for psychological reasons. The pay is not worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When employees performance tanks, look for underlying causes rather than just applying more pressure. You have talented professionals who bed the chance to succeed. Don't let a bad month or two convince you that employees who have been with the for decades are dead weight. Invest in your employees that way you say you do. Stop the culture of fear.

I worked at LexisNexis Canada Inc. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people you work with, location and benefits are all good.

    Cons

Upper management seems to lack direction. A number of coworkers have departed over the uncertainty that exists. For a company that needs a drastic overhaul it was a surprise that that they hired an inexperienced CEO. Regrettably the next level of management is also ineffective. As a consequence the work environment has deteriorated even further. The effect on my personal workload has substantially increased with no perceivable benefit; we are working harder not smarter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to create vision statement and then organize your plans towards that vision. Stay focused on that vision and stop being distracted by everyday events. If you can show this kind of commitment then people will buy into the plan and things will turn around.

Employee satisfaction has been low for a couple years now and they haven't demonstrated any inclination to change this.

I worked at LexisNexis Canada Inc.

    Pros

Nice colleagues, online professional improvement tutorials available (need clearance from management), 2 paid volunteer days, HR organizes fun socials, laid-back work environment, location close to the highway.

    Cons

Workers on contract can work for years without any opportunity for full-time employment, limited opportunities to work on projects in other departments, i.e. very top-down structure hinders lateral mobility for professional growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Constant organizational restructuring gives the appearance of meddlesome insecurity at the top. As a result, I lacked confidence in upper management because they were always worried about their own job security. I want a manager who pushes me to grow. This was not the case. 2. You do a nice job of offering socials and fringe benefits, but you drop the ball on professional growth. Balance between the two.
