Disappointing Company to Give Your All.

    Account Executive (Former Employee)

ProsCo-workers are very nice and they hire good people.

ConsManagement of all levels. Hired to work as slave drivers.

Advice to Senior ManagementGage where employees are working hard or lacking. The lack of this gage kills the dedicated work force.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Troubled water for the future

    Territory Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe people are great...from the top down. The products themselves are good. The delivery system is unstable and unreliable. Over all comp for sales people is well within the market range.

ConsThere appears to be a lack of a focused vision. In addition, it seems the company is very satisfied being number 2 in the market. Product development is uneven and unreliable. For sales people, the comp is too low for salary.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus. Focus. Focus. Do not follow "Best Practices"...think out of the box. Be bold. Do something that is not reactionary for proactive.

    Pressure Cooker

    Account Manager (Current Employee)
    Dayton, OH

ProsWonderful co-workers, great pay and benefits. Fun perks like parties, happy hours, etc.

ConsMismanagement is rife, flagship products don't work, pressure is unbearable. Just this year, a woman in her thirties had a stress related stroke, and two other people had to take short term disability for psychological reasons. The pay is not worth it.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen employee performance tanks, look for underlying causes rather than just applying more pressure. You have talented professionals who need the chance to succeed. Don't let a bad month or two convince you that employees who have been with the company for decades are dead weight. Invest in your employees that way you say you do. Stop the culture of fear.

    Lexis/Nexis

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Miamisburg, OH

ProsGood pay, decent benefits. Great people working there. Great time off and sick time. Flexible work hours.

ConsManagement has lost it's way. Constant layoffs, outsourcing, eliminating positions to show a profit after making bad business decisions. Key go to people let go to save money. Employees are not happy, constantly worried about losing their jobs - especially if they have been there 20 years or more.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs changed before the company goes under.

Not a bad place but constant layoffs

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCo-workers and the actual work part of the job are pretty solid. It's great working with the students and there's lots of flexibility in your schedule. Really high vacation days as well.

ConsFor the last 2-3 years, there have been lay offs every six months and that's not a trend that is likely to change as consultants have already been contracted to see how to cut further. It's almost impossible to move up in the company unless you live in Dayton. Only raises are the cost of living raise once a year (roughly 2.5%). Bonuses are paid out in advance so if performance isn't met, then you have to give money back to the company - very demoralizing.

Advice to Senior ManagementI know cuts have to be made in hard times, but if you keep taking the wind out of our sails, eliminate all support and help we have, give us zero opportunities for career growth or advancement, and seek to cut the programs that draw customers to us (making it impossible to reach goals), then you will lose all your talent. The job market is not as bad as it was two years ago and everyone will jump ship.

    Good company, decent pay

    Telephonic Account Executive (Current Employee)
    Dayton, OH

ProsGreat product, good incentives, competitive environment, great training

ConsSketchy on charge-back pay on old accounts

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out how to retain tenured reps who are facing mountains of charge backs from revolving account managers mismanaging accounts.

    Lot of potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat flexibility. Management trust you and is very hand-offs. If you do your work, they will let you manage your time as you see fit

ConsNot a lot of opportunities for advancement. Large corporation that moves at glacial speed. You have to fight to get trained in new technologies and trends that should come natural in a company like this one.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to walk the talk. If you want agility, invest in clever people

You take the good, you take the bad...

    Brand Marketing Manager (Current Employee)
    Dayton, OH

ProsGreat pay, good benefits. Flexible work schedule (i.e. work from home). Company supports charitable causes through 2 Cares Days a year (paid days to volunteer) and the Rule of Law.

ConsHighly matrixed organization. Each department runs differently which makes it hard to move around the company. Yearly re-orgs (if not more often). It's all who you know vs. being recognized/promoted on talent or deserving.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't let managers become blockers to career paths. Offer true career paths that are attainable.
