Pros
People oriented organisation, good senior management which provides direction, focused business approach.
Cons
Slow to respond to market needs, decision making takes long, not a nimble organisation.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more responsive to market requirements. Focus more on external environment than internal process.
Pros
Best of both worlds - support of Liberty Mutual Holdings but not a direct part of Liberty Mutual. Growing industry with lots of opportunity. Global operations. Still has a small employees base.
Cons
Lack of direction & established processes. LIU grew fast and is spread out - each region does things their own way. But that also provides opportunity. Oppressive IT policies. Some managers are good, some not so good. Many new employees come in via headhunters as contractors which may be good or bad; many FT also transfer in from Liberty.
Advice to Senior Management
The company is heading in the right direction. Give employees the freedom and tools to get things done. Create your own HR system! You are restricting the ability of long term contractors by not giving them access to employee resources (no N-number, etc.). Your employees & contractors want to do a good job - let them!
