Pros
It has a great work environment, I love my bosses as well as coworkers. They also really challenge you and give you important tasks.
Cons
I believe the worst thing about Liberty Mutual is that it doesn't pay as well as other companies do with same job.
Advice to Senior Management
I would say prepare well for the interview, Liberty Mutual wants employs that know how to work in groups and have good social skills.
Pros
The benefits are great and easily accessible
Cons
More external hiring than promotion from within.
Pros
Collaborative work spirit. Managers were more than glad to assist and provide feedback. Pay was quite competitive for a college student at the time.
Cons
Training consisted of shadowing a current employee. Routine tasks were given to interns to complete (recording new claims, filling out IMEs, etc).
Advice to Senior Management
This is dependent upon the manager assigned to the fellow intern(s), but a suggestion would be to delegate more responsibility in order to provide a challenging intern experience.
Pros
Freedom in decision-making, excellent training program
Cons
Terrible work-life balance; poor mid-level management.
Pros
1 - Pay was on par with industry.
2 - Benefits package was decent.
Cons
1 - The case load you are expected to manage is unreasonable
2 - Supervisors/Team Managers have an over inflated sense of self worth
3 - You are monitored much too rigidly - I was told I was going to the restroom to frequently
4 - Negative feedback is doled out too often and too easily while positive feedback is rare (feedback from the Supervisors/Team Managers)
Advice to Senior Management
I think management only needs to take a look at the turn over rate in the Subro Dept to see that there is a serious problem. More employees need to be hired to make the work load more manageable and the current crop of Supervisors/Team Managers need to be re-evaluated to determined if they have truly have the skills to lead.
Pros
Fairly good training. Good benefits. Stable company--not going to get laid off unless you underperform. CAN make good money--but don't expect it without working very hard in the beginning.
Cons
eft out basic training on Life insurance. You find good success in the beginning selling to people you know, after that your "funnel" will run out if you're not careful to be active online and in the community. It's not a 9-5 office job. You really need to get out and be seen in your community by participating in community events and joining clubs. This is probably the hardest job I've done simply because you have to find your own business.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide better training for life insurance and go over the compensation plan in DETAIlL during the training months.
Pros
Benefits are great. Co workers work together very well.
Cons
Work life and personal life balance is horrible. As and adjuster, 10 and 12 hour days are common every single week. Older employees are not appreciated. Management does not recognize a job well done. We actually have paper files now. Haven't worked paper in 14 years. Too many user ids and passwords for the mutiple systems you have to work in to just get one claim handled.
Advice to Senior Management
Give your employees decent systems to work in. Give them an opportunity to go home sometime.
Pros
Very knowledgeable managers in business units - they understand their business and work towards ensuring that their goals and behavior align with the organization
Cons
Various management styles per business unit - this impacts the ability of cross-functional teams regarding moving rapidly at the pace of business needed
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that acquisitions don't impact current culture by allowing acquired management structures to begin promoting and hiring in former acquired company supervisors and managers
Pros
benefits are great including pension flexible work environment great employees 401k contributions are great as well as bonus structure and performance review
Cons
communications with staff and systems issues that need to be resolved to assist in workloads but this should definitely be updated shortly
Pros
Great pay, good benefits, excellent 401K, pension, company credit card.
Cons
No advancement opportunity. Very little life/work balance.
Advice to Senior Management
