Cons
Not recommended for women in IT. Too much of a boys club with lots of people who have been there 25+ years who resist change and will not accept changes to status quo, even when neccessary. Not very efficient in their work, IT lacks any type of adherence to SDLC processes. QA not respected and bolted on to the end of the process. Very difficult to find people to get your job done and then you have to hound them. Found the overall talent in the IT department lacking. A lot of local talent, not a lot of top notch talent from the big schools or big heavyweights in IT. A lot of "figuring it out" needed by the IT department and not a lot of getting it right the first time due the quality of talent in the entire department. They preach responsibility and inclusion, but I found those to be traits lacking in my team. There is a reason why this company usually prefers to hire from within or college grads. They are usually the one people who find passive agressive tatics palatable. Don't ever expect a fair fight or be able to raise your opinion or idea if it is not your bosses idea. I read in one review before that this is a place where good IT careers go to die, I found that to be a very true statement.
Advice to Senior Management
To get the type of IT change you want/need, You are going to need a huge culture change that embraces new ideas and is far more collaborative. The old guard can't retire fast enough...

Advice to Senior Management
I think most offices would have better management, however my immediate manager at times has been rude and derogatory to the point where I reported him to upper management. The situation has improved, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt that office environment will maintain it's current level.

More individual attention is required to truly develop the sales reps. Currently a hiring binge takes place and reps get lost in the shuffle as branch managers tackle numerous responsibilities and lose out on developing reps - which makes turnover very high.

Hard to advance, must greatly exceed goals and obtain other licenses on your own to obtain a better position than CSR.

Provide better opportunity for training to help advance current employees

Pay was very competitive, extremely flexible schedule, people were a lot of fun to work with, rewarded for hitting goals, great 401K.
Cons
Upper management in home office never knew what was going on in the branches it seemed. Communication was very poor. Most managers were not qualified at all and are not assessed properly based on individual performance. To move up or make a parallel move was all politics. Certain coworkers never had to take ownership since manager never addressed them about it to avoid conflict. If you are looking to advance and develop and have a good support system from your manager, this is not the right place for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Read the annual surveys well and apply them each year to better your employees work environment. Take successful sales reps and let them work in other areas of the company, you have lost a lot of good employees because of this. Treat people fairly and take everyone seriously. Evaluate your managers better to be sure they are working just as hard as their sales reps.

The pay is fair. Benefits are comparable to other companies in the area. Desk level employees are a very talented set of individuals for the most part. Large company, so options to move and gain a broader breath of skills and knowledge are greater.

Promotions are hard to come by and even then are somewhat politically driven. You will be hit hard if you challenge upper management (depending on the area)
Advice to Senior Management
Take some responsibility and accountability when things don't go as planned. It is easy to point to other, especially people in lower pay grades to make your self look and feel better...but it really doesn't.

Liberty's concept when you are given a BlackBerry is that you are available and WILL respond to Liberty 24x7. This is regardless of your position/level in the company.
You would think an insurance company would be able to negotiate better health insurace rates.

Anyone can work here-you can work in management without a degree and no experience
whatsoever in the field

However,you could be college educated and have a dolt (or a couple of dolts)
as your management

going in the direction that it deserves to go...
