    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, great people to work with, not a cut-throat environment

    Cons

personal growth. If you are coming from tri-state area it could look a little slow paced but not a bad thing for work-life balance

    Advice to Management

Focus a little more on employee training. Some of the folks I worked with were a little out-dated in respect to technology

  2. Great company with lots of upward mobility and fantastic benefits and resources.

    Pros

Very professional but friendly atmosphere. Great benefits, salary, and office. Extremely well run.

    Cons

The company is very large and as a result can be very bureaucratic. I felt like a cog in the wheel sometimes, which I probably was. There seemed to be a large influx of interns and staff, but the management was moving around or disappearing while I was there. This made for good upward mobility but also made me question why people weren't staying.

    Advice to Management

This company is great. Keep doing a good job keeping people happy, but give your best employees more challenge and incentive to stay and do well.

    Pros

Training and onboarding went smoothly, still a relatively new employee, but have been impressed with the quality of co-workers, ethical standards that aren't just lip service, good benefits and seems like ample room for growth and advancement. Salary seems slightly below market, but the benefits more than outweigh this. A Fortune 100 company that continues to grow and offer new opportunities.

    Cons

Workload and expectations are tough, and hitting 100% on metrics is nearly impossible.

    Advice to Management

Please don't turn this into defacto call center....hire front line people for this to allow dedicated service to our clients and customers. Overall though, keep focused and don't stray from your current values - you've got a good thing going and by far an employer of choice. Please help keep it that way.

  7. Delusional, incompetent upper management.

    Pros

Decent pay, mostly good people locally.
    Nice, centrally located office.
    Opportunities for advancement.
    Large number of resources.

    Cons

Exceptionally poor senior management who put into practice some of the most ill-formed and kookiest ideas imaginable. They wiped out a very competent management team and destroyed a very well-functioning office here in Portland. Frankly, management at this company does not respect their employees, and working here is becoming more of a job entailing rote claims processing versus professional claims adjusting. Arguably this company engages in bad-faith claims practices, enforced by upper management urchins in Boston. They now target mainly entry-level or relatively inexperienced employees, so if you're a competent professional it's best to stay away from this environment.

    Advice to Management

    To middle management: My condolences.
To upper management: Find new careers that better fit your talents, maybe as used car salesmen, televangelists or corporate lobbyists. And get some therapy.

    Pros

Good intern program with scheduled events, an internal 'intern' facebook type forum, bi-weekly conferences with members of upper management

    Cons

-this could be specific to my group but it was a bit hard to integrate into the larger group, my managers boss was not really open with my involvement in anything other than my direct projects which was fine but it would have been nice to feel a bit more like the team
