Advice to Senior Management
You guys were awesome actually, if given the oppertunity, I probably would apply to work for Liberty Tax Service again.
Pros
I did get good experience in doing taxes; but this all depends on the amount of returns your office does and how many employees your office has.
Cons
Each office is independently owned, so compensation and education varies greatly. Anybody can buy in, so your boss could be a real ass or asset to you and your development.
Advice to Senior Management
I would like it if education and compensation were more streamlined across the board. I think corporate needs to do a better job of who they allow to buy into their corporation
Pros
flexible-works with my family and life obligations
great pay-much better than similar employers
seasonal work-love my summers off with the family
Cons
Not the place to be if you are looking for a year round job. It is only a supplemental income position, but it works for me.
Advice to Senior Management
I love the franchisee I work for. Not all franchisees are created equal so be wise in choosing which location you work for.
Pros
People enjoyed working at Liberty. Training was sufficient to handle most situations. I had flexible hours, and management worked around schedules.
Cons
The job is a seasonal job, so there is not much opportunity for growth unless you plan to open a store.
Advice to Senior Management
I would advise the leadership to ensure there are enough people to handle customers at the peak hours. Some days there were too much or too little staff.
Pros
Senior and mid-managers all treat employees with respect and thank them for doing their jobs well.
You feel like part of a team.
Company works around your schedule - very flexible.
Relaxed - fun place to work.
Hourly wages depend on experience and how much education you have, not popularity.
Customers are treated with respect - no one is better than anyone else.
During interview and when you sign up for tax class, managers tell you about PT, seasonal job opportunities and what your chances of being hired are.
Franchise owners provide food, coffee, soda for both customers and employees, especially during busiest times when the office is swamped.
Company has several offices so there are some opportunities for advancement.
Owners give a great end-of-year party.
Cons
If you are looking for something that is full-time, year-round, this isn't the place for you.
Opportunities to advance are limited - you start as a tax preparer and the only position to move into is office supervisor.
Must stay to the end of the season to receive your bonus.
Advice to Senior Management
Supervisors try to be the friends of the employees instead of the leaders. They need more training in how to manage.
Pros
The tax seasson is fun even though very furstrating. People are very friendly, generally management show care and listen you. Do not count how many days off you take as long as work is done on time. No micro management. Free coffee. relax attire.
Cons
Opinion or concern are not always welcome. Unnecessary processes and procedures. Managers create unrealistic and false reports for higher managment. No appreciation of work.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your team instead of ignoring them. Review the workload with the team before just assigning them the task.
Pros
Greast Business Opportunity. Overall the model that has been put into place works and works very well as long as you can look at it and put it into action along with some very savy business experience. Profit margins that are more than attainable are just flat out amazing!
Cons
Politics will kill you in this company. Do not fall for any of it. They will put you on a pedestal only to realize that the pedestal is just a stepping block to the crucifiction. I know that sounds harsh but it is very true. Know your buisness and run your business and you will be fine.
Advice to Senior Management
Redevelop the culture that once was the envy of so many businesses. This very culture that made Liberty great is now cancerous and is hurting the company everyplace.
