I worked at Life Care Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They pay you for working there. That's genuinely the only positive I can see here.

    Cons

Simply the single most political, petty, and unprofessional workplace I've ever had the misfortune of occupying. Policies are changed without any memoranda. You're forced to source most of your services through other LCS-owned companies, regardless of their price or performance. Interdepartmental rivalry is not only rampant, but encouraged. Benefits and bonuses are routinely fiddled with, a date fudged here or a late entry there, and suddenly the metrics you meet don't show eligibility for bonuses.

This is a horrible, horrible company, filled with people who are ineffectual at best and flat-out two-faced in most cases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean the slate, property-by-property, and start staffing again from scratch. The politics-first values of the home office fill each property with people who don't care about the people they're charged with caring for.

Decisions are made relating to money not in best interest of the resident

I worked at Life Care Services part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Christmas bonus is generous, the facility is clean, the exterior landscaping is well kept.

    Cons

There is lack of leadership, constantly changing administrators and directors.
Employees are asked to convince the residents that the decisions are based on what is best for them when in reality the decision is based on money and filling the beds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please look at what is ethical and change the corporate culture to one based on the rights of the residents. The constant pressure to push services to add to revenues of the facility is toxic for all that are involved.

I have been working at Life Care Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is the ability to work for the seniors we serve. Compensation is reasonable. Communities are usually well maintained.

    Cons

Top Management have worked together too long and they do not listen to any other ideas other than theirs. Politics at best...in or out crowd not based on performance but based on do I like you. Processes are the most important thing to LCS. They do not understand the importance of people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work life balance. Make people more important than process.

    Pros

They do have history in the industry and everything is very methodlogical. They have a calculated approach to everything.

    Cons

If you are one if "them" then you are in. If not, you are on the outs. I did not perceive a respect for integrity, honesty, or change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's 2013. Step into the new millinium. Listen to the people in the field and and learn to respect them, their accomplishments, contributions, and value.

I worked at Life Care Services

    Pros

Compensation, Cna-nurse teamwork, location, hours, shift differentials, and medium stress level. The customers, though they feel entitled due to their drained pocketbooks, are very respectful and show their appreciation by paying for Christmas bonuses collectively.

    Cons

The management was very unprofessional, disrespectful, biased, never gave recognition or acknowledged good work; I heard the words "thank you" twice a year. Rarely given the days off that we're requested due to few prn workers and set schedules for special employees. There are several nurses who are out of touch with modern medicine and are just waiting to retire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read the book one minute manager, learn to appreciate a good thing, say thank you and please. Show common decency.

I have been working at Life Care Services

    Pros

Company has been around and steady grows but that growth is done at the mercy of the line management that forfiet a life work balance to give it all to LCS. Not many pros. If you seek high recognition and praise, these are not the guys to work for.

    Cons

Inexperienced management. Likes to bring in experts to help as a resource to other managers but lack of respect between ranks creates discord. Don't expect any loyalty from upper management, this is not a hospitality company, it is a long term care management company. Needs to realize that their growth will come from dedication of managers motivated by desire rather than threats of job loss. Lack of comprehensive training programs for management. Lots of politics. Good Ole Girl network. If yourprimary mission is to help people like the customer, than choose another employer. It's money first here, residents and care second.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating CRSA employees as step children. Provide time and tools for training middle managers. Stop filling the management ranks with unmarried singles that just want to party, just because they did well in school doesn't prepare them for reality of caregiving.

I worked at Life Care Services

    Pros

The residents that live at the communities make your job enjoyable. You get to help people in need.

    Cons

The management they put in place have no clue on how to run long-term care facilities. It seems that LCS doesn't focus on the needs of the people living at the communities. It's all about the money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees at the communites and stop bullying them. Hire better Administrators. The business should be about the residents you serve and not about how much money you can make.
