    Good company to work for if you want to stay abreast of the latest in Alternative Medicine.

    ProsCompany focuses on training employees on latest science in Alternative Medicine, FDA compliance, and software they use.

    ConsVery stressful to deal with customers, most of whom are older and dealing with chronic disease. Biggest hurdle is tip-toeing around draconian FDA rules which make it very hard to just talk about Natural Medicine.

    Advice to Senior ManagementHigher wages, friendlier evaluation of employees who have super stressful jobs!

    ConsTreated like call center employees and not the professionals with advanced degrees that most health advisors have.
    I feel like I'm in elementary school again having to ask to leave my desk
    Salaries are too low for the work experience and level of education.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPay employees what they are worth and treat them like professionals and maybe there would be less turnover.

    One of the most horrible places to ever work at!! Run far away from this place at all cost!

    ProsBenefits (medical, dental, etc) were good overall. Most of the regular employees (except the managers, executives, supervisors) were good, honest, hard-working people. Pay was decent, but could be better.

    ConsAs a highly experienced professional, I have worked at several corporate positions within this company for more than 2 years. These positions (and departments) lack basic organizational skills. You had to figure out how to operate quickly with little to no training in a dysfunctional, chaotic and unorganized environment, which causes high stress on a daily basis. The managers and supervisors set unrealistic expectations with little to no guidance if you need help. The organization simply doesn't care about you. Experienced and talented health professionals are taken for granted at this organization, and are treated very poorly everyday. This company does not want you to succeed at their organization, nor after you leave the organization. Entrepreneurial and innovative ideas are highly discouraged. This company has a very high turnover rate. I have known many talented individuals who have left this terrible environment! I couldn't rate this company a "0" star so I had to put down a 1-star rating of this company.

    Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of Paul Gilner (CEO) and all the other useless executives in this corporation. They are nothing but greedy parasites that ruin the image of how an honest corporation is supposed to be run. They threaten, coerce and intimidate employees to get what they want. Honesty, humility, and the desire to improve has been thrown out the window at this company. William Faloon (owner) needs to be aware of how these parasites are destroying his company. The managers and supervisors need to actually do some work and actually be involved in helping their subordinates consistently improve. The managers and supervisors have a cushy and comfortable position (often for many years) and are too lazy to help improve and develop the department they are managing/supervising.

    RUN FAR AND FAST FROM THIS PLACE!!!

    ProsGood benefits for employee, health insurance is FREE for employee (but watch out if adding spouse/children),co-workers are typically awesome...

    ConsDespite the fact that I hold a doctorate degree and have worked professionally in my field for years, I was treated like a third grader. You even have to ask permission to run to the restroom! Feedback focuses on making sure you know how much you suck and how your job is in constant jeopardy for any number of subjective "performance" issues. Upper management is terribly stifling, works from a standard of coercion, threats, and general fear-mongering among employees. The current CEO is a grade A prime choice BULLY.

    Advice to Senior ManagementGo wake up the owners and have them get a new CEO.

    Lots of potential that falls short in many ways

    ProsPretty good benefits and pay is reasonable. Many of the employees are great people; unfortunately that stops as soon as you hit management.

    ConsVery dysfunctional management that create a culture of intimidation and coercion to keep people stuck in their positions rather than help them develop their skills, tools, and assets to the best of their ability. Small minded and pettiness seem to be virtues of the CEO as well as many of the middle level managers who often are insecure as many of their 'supervisees' are actually more qualified and educated than they are in many areas. Subsequently employees are not treated professionally but rather they are perpetually 'babysat' by management with many of the same techniques used to 'punish' them as in elementary school (i.e. they even call them 'time outs'!)

    Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to get rid of the CEO (only the founder, who is too detached from the day to day operations will ever be able to do this and that is unlikely) and get someone who is actually caring and understands healthcare; treat employees with advanced degrees and training who actually want to help people like professionals; allow for skill and career development rather than creating an environment of apathy and frustration.

    Worst company I have ever worked for

    Prosunlimited overtime (high turnover rate) very good job for physically challenged people

    Conspay is very low, totally sedentary, no chance for promotion, you may or may not get your annual bonus or pay increase, at certain times of the year (super sale) overtime is mandatory and no days off approved very easy company to get fired from

    Advice to Senior ManagementPay more for educated people, revise the QA department and get rid of subjective measures

    ProsThe folks you will work with at LEF are generally very nice. Their mission is a noble one, and it's great to work for a positive organization.

    ConsTop-down management! I am very entrepreneurial and it was frustrating at times that management did not seem to have any respect for their employee's experience and point of view. Definitely not the type of place to be if you like standing out. The employees of the month were always those who did not make waves and kept their head down.

    Lots of potential sadly undermined by management

    ConsUnfortunately, there really are so many cons to this organization. The dysfunctional tone is set at the very top with an inappropriately chosen CEO who, rather than being a visionary an innovator, relies on coercion, nepotism, deception, tyranny, and outdated business practices to 'rule' the company. Rather than encourage and reward individuals by helping them build careers, skills, and so forth, the company internal environment is such that individuals are stifled by unnecessary and ill-founded call-center type of rules and policies that are continuously shifting and purposely nebulous. In a way, this allows them to continually 'devalue' employee performance and find negative things to say about so many wonderfully qualified, skilled, and unique professionals. There truly are many people wanting to help society but unfortunately management has not learned the lesson of also valuing its health advisors and doctors that form the bedrock of its organization and are its most valuable asset to the public and to its bottom line.

    Eventually, all of the talented people with options leave and go onto better and bigger things as management has no interest in developing individuals' careers or even just more basically, creating a pleasant workplace for individuals to thrive vs. just stay alive. Having studied organizational behavior in graduate business school, the behavior here is just toxic. Very few individuals are happy and unfortunately the founders of the company are so detached with the day-to-day operations that they are clueless about what goes on a day to day basis. One would think that with the continual revolving door of advisors and doctors leaving that they would notice, but alas, that is not the case (or they don't care). Either way, the company cares about their perception to the consumer marketplace but very little about its own. In fact, they at times, go out of their way to stifle those currently there or that leave and strike it out on their own in integrative medicine. The insecurity, unprofessionalism, and lack of listening to their own feedback from employees is truly astounding and at the end of the day, very sad, as it makes this organization MUCH MUCH less than it could be.

    Advice to Senior ManagementStop using coercive, almost communist techniques to get employees to 'obey' and rather encourage by fostering a supportive, invigorating, rich-learning environment.

    Unfortunately, much of top management is not the right fit for the organization, given it is trying to be an innovative, progressive medicine foundation outfit. Choose a different CEO who actually cares about employees and wants to create a win-win business model where financial success AND integrity to treating people 'right' are the rule, rather than create an environment where qualified, healthcare professionals are treated like menial worker drones that have to abide by the whims of various rules and regulations often created by 'supervisors' and other business types very often with less training, education, and experience than those they are governing.

    Stop creating such a gossipy, unprofessional work-environment where most of the job performance is truly based on whether a supervisor or the CEO 'likes' someone. It is common for employees to have performance reviews and bonuses to be suppressed if top management decides they 'don't like someone' for a realm of various petty, childish, personal reasons.

    If you want to be a world-class organization providing world-class service and information, start within with your own people.

    Horrible, stressful day-to-day work environment

    ProsMost of my fellow employees (doctors, employees, customer service) are really nice people. It's a shame many good health advisors and doctors in the past have left. Benefits are okay.

    ConsHorrible call center environment to work in. Unnecessary new and tighter regulations are completely choking employees. The training is way too outdated and out of touch with reality on how to actually improve the way we handle calls on a day-to-day basis. Company cares more about their customers than their employees, even if an employee bends over backwards to help them. We are forced to deal with callers who call multiple times in a day (regarding the same question/issue) and those who are abusive. Supervisors and the quality dept are very inconsistent with their scoring- one time you handle a call, you may get a 60%. Another time you may handle a similar call and gave similar information, you get a 95%. It is very rare to move up and advance in this company. Extremely disappointed how top-notch, very knowledgeable health professionals are treated at this company. Even janitors and blue collared workers are treated with more respect and dignity.....

    Advice to Senior ManagementActually do some work and stop walking around all the time just gossiping!!!! Get rid of the egos and stop adding to unnecessary drama in the workplace. It would not hurt to listen what improvements those under you are suggesting. It would be nice to actually talk to your subordinates from time to time, tell them their positive attributes (as opposed to their negative attributes only) during their review. All of those in senior management and antiquated business practices (in the advisor/doctor dept) need to be overhauled....
