I have been working at Life Fitness full-time

    Pros

Great culture, benefits, employee activities, and departmental outings. Interest in making office jobs more active. Growing organization.

    Cons

Administrative responsibilities from being a subsidiary of a public company. Low turnover leading to lack of potential advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Increased communication between senior and staff management. Only form of communication seems to come from quarterly meetings.

I have been working at Life Fitness full-time

    Pros

*Entrepreneurial *Energetic *Great people *Awesome leadership from the top-down (Chris is a dream CEO) *The perks and benefits are amazing * Global company (opportunity for international travel) *The company isn't just talking the talk about employee health & wellness...they're walking the walk! *Wellness also involves work/life balance and that can definitely be found here; department depending, there are times (revolving around specific projects or initiatives) that it's necessary to put in extra time so you don't fall behind. However, the atmosphere is fun and hard-work is recognized so the extra time and work feels worthwhile. *The company is well-established but is still relatively fast moving and agile especially considering the size and age of the organization

    Cons

Any cons are far outweighed by the pros. Some people include the parent company, Brunswick, in their cons. Maybe I'm seeing the glass as half-full, but I like the perks being a smaller, innovative, and fast-paced company under the umbrella of a larger company provides (e.g. ability to move or be considered for roles within sister companies, discounts, & more!). Brunswick is fiscally conservative and can be risk averse both of which are necessary to run a sustainable and successful company in today's volatile economies. Can this be frustrating sometimes? Sure. Is this beneficial in the medium and long run? Absolutely.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening and doing what you're doing; the changes over the past couple years are definitely making a positive impact.

I have been working at Life Fitness full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of the people on the production floor are really cool and it IS possible to have fun at work. Lots of decent benefits of being an employee here.

    Cons

The pay is definitely lacking, the management is TERRIBLE, so bad you will want to rip your hair out on a daily basis. There isn't really any opportunity for advancement in the company unless you have a college education, there is absolutely NO recognition for hard work. They tend to keep the worthless people and find a stupid reason to get rid of the best workers. They lure you in with promises of a 4 x 10 hour work week and then schedule mandatory overtime about 3/4 of the year. You'll spend most of the year working 50-70 hour work weeks.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the advice of your subordinates and spend more time on the production floor so you can actually see what's going on out there. Give recognition to the employees that deserve it rather than those you like the most.

I worked at Life Fitness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with If it wasn't for the people you work with the job would be a complete nightmare

    Cons

They don't care about the employees They work you like a dog for pennies on the dollar No advancement opportunities There is no such thing as a 40 hour week there they like to force you to work thanksgiving to Christmas every year that's 23 days of 10 hour days

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better and compensate them with more vacation and money

    Pros

Good environment, good people, fun industry. Good career and life balance

    Cons

a lot of budget cuts and moves. Depends a lot on Brunswick parent company financials. People are overworked. HR questions all hiring and promotion decisions.

  10. It was the greatest company to work for at one time.

I have been working at Life Fitness full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There were great managers and supervisors at one time where they cared about their employees. Not today they just walk all over you.

    Cons

The company is still a good place to work, just depends who you are working for ?

    Advice to Management

Management needs to look at some of the people that they have in charge.

I worked at Life Fitness (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Incredible manufacture of commercial fitness products with incredible brand recognition and a very large product line for all commercial applications.

    Cons

Virtually impossible to move up in the company regardless of performance. On average the best territory sales managers last about 5 years before moving to another company or industry so they can continue to advance.
