I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great discounts and wonderful membership.

    Cons

High expectations and tight timelines. Just like every where. So you need to manage it by managing your business and provide detailed plans.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast pace environment where you will never get bored. Literally spent every minute of the day working, which for a fast paced and motivated individual is awesome. The hierarchy is pretty flat and you get great exposure to upper tier executives on a daily basis and feel like you actually have ownership in the companies overall direction.

    Cons

Time away is literally non-existent. Well, it is, but be ready for a barrage of 600+ need to read emails when you return after a week vacation. Additionally, don't think twice about not staying close to your phone after work. Business leaders expect answers morning, noon, and night which will kill your life outside of work. To top it off, the benefits aren't that great. You get a membership at their middle tier clubs for free (nothing special), the discount for being fit on health care doesn't necessarily start right away (only test when the group policy is about to renew) so you are paying full freight like a fatty, and you get a whopping 10 days off a year for working yourself ragged....that INCLUDES your sick days! Not that healthy after all.

    Advice to Management

Consider truly rewarding your employees for working super hard. Don't play favorites by placing an executive's significant other in a leadership role when they don't deserve it. Hire more smart people.

I worked at Life Time Fitness part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free or discounted membership Flexible schedule makes work/life balance easy. Great customer interaction encouraged to be friendly and helpful. Managers are approachable and leadership structure is very transparent

    Cons

Started working here with a promise of progressive annual pay increases. They ended this system during my first year of employment. Made the same pay for all three years of employment, wasn't a deal breaker for me but others may find it to be.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the good work.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free membership. Most of the people that work there are great and LTF has a fun environment.

    Cons

Horrible compensation, barely livable compared to other companies. No advancement opportunities. Some Sr Mgmt incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Give some of the money from Sr management to the people that actually do the work, and make advancement opportunities available.

Company as a whole is good. Tech department is dysfunctional.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good salary at start, phone and internet reimbursement

    Cons

No communication from management, minimal raises, gym membership is good if you live close to the gym where you work at (Chanhassen is platinum level but all the gyms towards the middle of minneapolis are a higher level. If you work at corporate you will be set as platinum.), minimal career development in tech area of corp., HR hiring process is a nightmare, impossible to get tech training (even at the <$100 level, was told 'no'). Please note that the "culture & Values" from below reflects those from the department level and not the company level.

    Advice to Management

Share the direction of projects and tech in the company. Most communication involved "we took x amount of calls in the helpdesk this month". Would have been nice to see "These are the projects and the direction we are going in". Do exit interviews and follow up on the feedback. Hiring smart people with no management experience as managers is one thing but give them the tools to actually become good managers. With developers particularly if you aren't willing to give them training and projects that are interesting, you are going to loose them.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time

    Pros

Working just ten hours a week gets you a free membership (normally 100+ a month!), fun work environment with great benefits that come along with your membership such as gas discounts, movie discounts, etc. If you put in a hard work effort you will be rewarded quickly with promotions

    Cons

while working, especially near the end of summer when everyone goes back to school we were understaffed at times making it difficult to stay within regulations. Very strict corporate rules (I worked next to the corporate offices). If you didn't have the vision and mission statement memorized at all times, weren't within in strict accordance with dress code, etc you would be written up. People from Corporate like to come in and pretend to be members to see how you react. Many i dealt with however were unreasonable and expect high quotas when they haven't worked a day on the floor.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time

    Pros

The energy and attitude of the club staffers is infectious! My co-workers were great; a hard-working, but fun-loving group that never lost sight of a good life/work balance.

    Cons

Some people in the upper management team are very intense and do not like to hear opinions that are different than their own.

    Advice to Management

You have some great people working for you. Listen to what they have to say.

I worked at Life Time Fitness full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The perks and the people are amazing! Getting paid to workout is always a great option.

    Cons

Management doesn't always communicate their expectations and goals. A mentorship program should be more than listening to one's phone calls on occasion.

    Advice to Management

Give more empowerment to employees and be more approachable when an employee needs help.
