I have been working at Lifespan Corporation part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Values quality patient care, remains current on trends including documentation, research, etc.
Each individual facility demonstrates concern for its staff and patient population with good camaraderie.

    Cons

Leadership of the overall corporation move too slowly, show less concern for front-line staff. Instead of letting each facility fulfill it's special role within its community, they are trying to make cookie-cutter facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop trying to turn apples into oranges and allow each facility to function in a way best suited.to its environment.

I have been working at Lifespan Corporation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lifespan has great health benefits. They provide lots of vacation time, starts at 5 weeks. They offer employee discounts from local business.

    Cons

That are a lot if long time employees who make trying anything new or outside the box difficult. Long hours, with not enough recognition for the extra effort you may put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge and compensate the people who sacrifice for the benefit of the company.

I have been working at Lifespan Corporation full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Some of the colleagues are nice.

    Cons

Poor salaries...flexible scheduling is a fallacy...poor management, clueless about leadership, budgeting, or what truly goes into its hospitals..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate everyone, hire true talent and not just train what you have..why? Currently, they are all poor performers that are getting salaries for somewhat showing up..and I'm referring to your management..the staff actually has to at least show up..

I worked at Lifespan Corporation part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at The Miriam Hospital as a per diem medical technologist from 2007-2010. My supervisor and the management above were very pleasant and professional, so very UNLIKE the supervisors in my full-time job at that time....
The department I worked in (blood bank) was well managed. They were flexible with my schedule and in return I felt I was useful and helpful to them. When there was a budget shorfallin the late 2000's, Lifespan's
senior management took pay cuts so no one would be laid off.

    Cons

I had a rather long commute and the pay was rather on the low side, but pay for medical technologists was low throughout that region. New England is an expensive place to live and it would have helped if med tech salaries had been higher.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Doing great in 2010 anyway!
