ProsOffice culture is good but not great

Consto much favoritism going on in Lightpath

Advice to Senior ManagementThe bosses need to listen to the lower people more as they are to far removed from dealing with customers.

    Good pay for the work.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsBased on other jobs the salary seems commesurate with the work requirements. Too many top management changes. Not enough time to allow the restructuring to work.

ConsPoor decisions when laying off workers.

ProsBenefits. Salary. Perks. Job Security. Training.

ConsCliques!! I have to 100% agree with an earlier post, if you are not middle aged, homely and one of the "odd girl" out - turned "cool girl" forget about fitting in. This is the downfall of this place, it really deters professional individuals from wanting to work in an environment like this. I can't say enough about the eye rolling, don't talk to us, don't sit near us attitude rules this building - it's laughable looking back. Considering how much the upper level management let's these few bad seed's get away with is a shame when you look at the productivity that could be increased if coming to work wasn't just a social event for those without a life outside the building! That is the vibe here and it makes the work place very difficult for those who don't want to be yes people to those who need ego stroking.

Advice to Senior ManagementBreak up this clique this is a work place not a weight watchers meeting.

"Almost" a career - now just a job

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people to work with on the front lines, though only in "your" department.
Great benefits (free cable, phone, internet)

    ConsEveryone works in silos.
No real direction by management in terms of career path or growth.
High churn in terms of sales people.
Project Managers are nothing more than admin assistants to handle order followup.
    No accountability for upper management.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry skip level meetings to get the real story of the trials and tribulations of the "common" employee.
Step up and provide leadership and take responsibility for the success (never a problem) or failure (never happens) of the company

ProsPrivate Office on Fifth Ave NY

ConsHorrible Upper Management, Does not care about Employees, very difficult to sell its products, lack of price flexibility. Very unprofessional Sales Ops, provisioning and behind the scenes teams. lack of minimal customer service and support that led to many cancellations and chargebacks. Very Unorganized.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Enterprise Account Executive (Former Employee)

ProsTruly had a terrific experience working day to day with great people and support/overlay staff in place. We certainly had a ton of fun.

ConsThe management direction from the top down completely miss the boat year in and year out. They have saturated the market with their building strategy hiring too many reps all the time and constantly back filling them as they shuttle them in and out, no rep has been at 100% of plan in their first year in some 9 years. We were also limited to where we could sell in the marketplace. They basically sell you about expansion of the network and money invested in the network yet it lacked truth.

Advice to Senior Managementi hear recently they may be steering in a better location as this is a 2+ year out review.

Try to get with the In Crowd

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsSalary and benefits are great.

ConsAnimosity between employees especially at the senior level is terrible. Boss told me before training its a waste of time but I had to go. Many people feel others have positions because of friendships.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere should be a separate class about how to act around Senior Management. In office affairs between employees and departments make it a rough environment to be in.

    Questionable Practices

    Account Executive (Current Employee)
    Oakland, NJ

ProsReliable great products. Pricing is very competitive. Limited areas to service. Sales Compensation is good.

ConsLimited products to offer. Limited areas to service. There seems to be no code of conduct practiced by Management. Other AEs can sell into your accounts without penalty. Project Managers are not really project managers, instead they are order takers.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management should hold skip level meetings to hear their employees voices. They only get feedback from Management, not from the AEs who are driving the companies success.

A Company Trying to Be Big

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Jericho, NY

ProsLightpath is a subsidiary of Cablevision. It's much smaller (around 500 people) and more fast paced. They are in a growing market so for now no real economic issues. Generally well managed.

ConsAs a small subsidiary (500 or so people) they have a lot of the bureaucracy of the parent company and aren't always as nimble as they should/could be.

Advice to Senior ManagementWalk around to see how things really operate. A significant part of the senior management team only interacts with their direct reports and don't always get solid info on how the company is operating.
