Learn a lot; Ahead of the curve in fashion retail; they always hire the best talent

Pros
Limited Brands is always striving for excellence. The company is always evaluating processes and looking for ways to improve the overall customer experience, employee appreciation, and even community outreach. There are various shifts and departments available, which is great for work/life balance. Feedback is always openly accepted and forwarded to the correct department. I would be glad to work at such a generous company for a long time.
Cons
A specific personality is definitely required to work in the call-center environment with Limited Brands. This does not necessarily have to do with the company itself, but rather the common stressors that accompany the job. Learning to take the good with the bad is quite important when dealing with the public. The biggest con that I am facing personally is the lack of jobs in my field. Obtaining a scientific degree prior to starting with Limited Brands, there is not much utilization for my degree at least in this branch.
Pros
Limited Brands provides you with the opportunity to grow within the company and are very flexible with relocation should you choose to move. They have a strong foundation and good work ethic; they value their employees and are customer centric.
Cons
The unfortunate part of working for any corporate business is the pay. They provide health and retirement benefits for their full-time employees which is great, but the salary is quite low. If you were living by yourself you would struggle to make ends meet on their salary.
Advice to Senior Management
I approve of the leadership at Limited Brands. They all seem to love their jobs and respect their employees. It is hard to stay on top of everything in such a fast paced, ever-changing environment, but the leadership team keeps open lines of communication and make it through with top results.

Be more transparent about plans and organization moves, involve associates in their moves.

I get paid more than I have at other jobs but its significantly lower than other people. Theyare understandingabout needing time off.
Cons
I'mtreated like a second class citizen because I'mfreelance. I have way too many responsibilities for being freelance, getting paid less, having nodiscount, having no benefits and for staying late. The management can be very rude, manipulative and deceptive and they lied about "leaving your title at the door."

The well known saying "you have to be a member of the 'boys club' to succeed. Promotions/advancement are solely based on who you know. HR tends to overlook employee concerns, they will listen but action is never taken.

Working in the HQ was great. A bright cheery atmosphere. The cafeteria food was the bomb.
Cons
Where to start:
--Managers of departments get promoted to job clearly because of who they know, not what they know.
--Problems in departments are often covered up and hidden from Les - if he really knew or was allowed to know the inner workings of some of his departments, he'd go nuts.
--Having people in charge of millions of dollars and the don't have a college degree or even any relevant experience to do their job
--Firing those who speak up about procedures that have proven time and time just not to work.
--Allowing politics and well, politics to run rampant.
Advice to Senior Management
Pull your head out of the sand and find out what is really going on in your company. How many good people do you have to lose before you get it? How many class action matters do you have to duck before you get it? Promote and hire people with experience, not just because of who they knew/know.

Keep freelancers for YEARS without awarding them company discount or benefits
Long hours with no overtime and no paid personal days, sick days or holidays for freelancers
Freelancers do not have the same growth opportunities as full time associates but sometimes have the same or more daily responsibilities. Sometimes freelancers have even been managers of a department for YEARS before being hired full time.
This is a multi-billion-dollar company - they should be able to hire their long-term freelancers.
Very political - be careful who you trust and how you interact with others.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire your freelancers after they've put in a full year or offer full benefits, sick days, 401K, promotion, etc. A successful company is one that values all of it's employees and gives incentives for all their hard work.

they never hire freelancers-they can be full time freelance for years! with no hope ever
they make a ton of money but are very cheap (ie the worst yearly raises etc)
agree with others who posted-most svp etc stay for 15+yrs and never leave, which means no growth opps if you are hoping to get to that level
the senior leaders generally do not "walk the walk" or "walk the talk" or whatever their crazy saying is.
a lot of senior leaders generally have huge inflated egos and are not humble like they try to teach them to be. i only know 1 leader that is truly humble there
they make you do all this limited way training, then most people who move up absolutely do not follow limited way values
they promote the most absurd people sometimes. the most absurd unprofessional people! this is a fact, not an opinion
their AOS associate opinion surveys are crap-nothing really ever changes. and people are scared to be honest because no one knows if it's really anonymous! especially the higher level you are
they sometimes do this 360 feedback thing on employees, then they do not tell the person getting feedback they need to improve etc. based on the feedback. ridiculous. why bother then?
this goes for any company-but HR is never to be trusted. ever.
very little to no appreciation-some days i don't know why i'm still there. actually most days.
they force you to donate to united way and pelotonia. and they want you to give a lot. they tell you what to give! so god forbid you have your own causes you support.

this will be my last job in corporate fashion- there's only so much abuse one can take in a lifetime.

walk the walk/talk you preach! and stop promoting people that do not live by your limited ways! there are so many i can think of off the top of my head! and stop being cheap and hire the poor full time freelancers that get no benefits and have worked there for years! and read my "cons!" and everyone elses too.
Pros
Good strategic direction, overall good leadership, smart, young, hip company. Work-life balance is fair, you get a significant number of PTO days from start. Discount is good if you are a female. Good place to start a career, get chance to learn a lot about the retail fashion industry.
Cons
Lacking realistic long-term opportunities for high achieving individuals..."need to wait your turn" in a lot of situations. Dead-weight in many areas of the organization..."lifers" exist almost everywhere and are clogging up opportunities for younger, talented employees. Lacking pro-active approach to doing business, lots of reacting. Extremely seasonal industry, super busy during holiday season.
Advice to Senior Management
Develop way to speed up development, promotions, career opportunities for young, educated, high achieving folks, or they are going to walk....as many do.
