Pros
Good chance for advancement and learnings, great personal development, good 401K after 1 year, amazing leaders, both in dept and within the organization as a whole
Cons
They have a soft culture that can be misunderstood at time, their bonus programs and benifits aren't that great - don't get much but your base.
Advice to Senior Management
N O T H I N G T O S A Y H E R E ! ! ! ! !
Pros
Competent People focusing on growing the business
Cons
Results driven more than people driven
Pros
Awesome treatment of customer. The way I would want to be treated as a customer. The company hires great talent and has terrific brand loyalty in the market.
Cons
Treatment of store-level employees is atrocious at times. Especially during the holidays and when quotas aren't being made. The people making it really happen on the sales floor with the customers receive gift cards while everyone above receives the "real" bonus. There is way to many "cliques" and corporate politics are the worse. Their open door policy is not so open door and their third party "ethics" hotline does nothing but file reports with corporate HR. If you don't fit into a preconceived "brand image" kiss any upward movement goodbye.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach! Treat everyone with respect, especially store level employees who are getting the job done for you. Get rid of these corporate politics. It decreases your company ethics severely.
Pros
Competitive pay, knowledgeable people, good products
Cons
You need to do a lot to move - They are very content to allow many people to sit in the same job for a long time - understandable, but I think they take advantage of it too much. No opportunity for anyone under the level of manager to bonus so they definitely don't share the wealth.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more of a financial incentive to non-managers as a reward for great work.
Pros
Good discount, I personally work with a great manager, big company, internal cafeteria
Cons
People are so gossipy and it feels like high school. Everyone's talking about everyone and complaining about their jobs etc. True, Upper Level Management doesn't seem to know what they're doing though they're getting paid the big bucks, while the rest of us are carrying all the weight on our shoulders.
So hope you like sucking up, cause you're going to have to do a lot of that.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by example...
Pros
Great people
Creative environment
Positive competition among associates
Cons
Long hours
Stressful at times
Pros
great pay, great bonus structure, good on your resume, but it will be pure combat.
Cons
horrible culture all around. they say one thing and do another. they expect you to work 60-80hrs a week. You get pressure from one sr. leader, then told do another by some other sr. leader. don't ask for clarification or go to HR- they will mob you, pressure you and not support you. I have seen MANY talented people leave due to the pressure, stress. My advice - do not be a hero- do not go expecting to make a big difference, just tow the line, get by, do nothing extraordinary. You'll be fine.
Pros
Job stability
High quality of associates
Senior Management provides Associate Opinion Surveys
Name and Brand recognition
Employee Discount
Training programs are being developed
Cons
Company is making money but not sharing it with associates who do the work
Associate Opinion Surveys aren't always acted upon
No time provided for training and development
Work/Life balance is talked about but hours are long. Managers often leave for the day while their subordinates stay and do the work.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach
Live up to the core values that you post on the walls
Treat associates with respect
Pros
Great people to work with; very progressive HR programs and talent management approaches.
Cons
Some senior leaders berated other senior leaders publicly at key meetings in a very belitteling way.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue your culture change efforts; hold all senior leaders accountable.
Pros
Salary is acceptable for entry (college) level or if recruited from a respectable competitor.
Cons
100% political. If you're not brown-nosing (which still isn't a gaurantee), you will not be included in the 'in crowd', Promotion and recognition is not based on work performance and the Limited Way.
Advice to Senior Management
The company is successful because the associates are loyal to the brand (and the pay in this economy); not to the management. Acknowledge and promote your associates from within. They are working too hard to be treated the way that they are. Associates stick it out for years because they would like to believe that it will get better...but it never does.
