Pros – At Lincoln they truly care about how you are doing as an individual. There is an effort to have balance between work and family.
Cons – Lincoln is not going to ever be the place that you go to work in order to recieve the top compensation available in your field.
Advice to Senior Management – Please keep up the good work. You have helped to steer us through the choppy waters the last few years.

Pros – Lincoln Financial has a true commitment to its employees and our customers. While not being the most outlandish company with guarantees, we compete by being innovative as well as having a strong foundation cemented in current market conditions.
Management treats employees with respect, gives people trust to do work, and does not micro-manage unless someone is not doing their job.
Pay is definitely good when including the nice benefits and respect of personal lives. Having regional offices provides an enjoyable, and necessary, diversion from the typical corporate America.
Cons – With a lot of reorganizations sometimes bureaucracy can get in the way of projects. At times, the path to succeed is muddled by the numerous divisions, lack of career oversight programs, and re-orgs.
Senior management does not clearly indicate goals or ways to achieve them. Middle-management does a nice job.
Advice to Senior Management – Communication needs to improve outside of daily tasks. Would enjoy understanding what is going on in different organizations.

Current Employee – been working at Lincoln Financial Group
Pros – From my experience I feel like my work is valued and that people appreciate my help. I thrive on meaningful work
Cons – There is a long corporate chain to make it to the top which can make promotions seem like a long road
Advice to Senior Management – The management is very supportive and helpful when you need it. The deadlines are fast pace but that is an industry staple.

Current Employee – been working at Lincoln Financial Group
Pros – great work/life balance and benefits package. Opportunity to grow within your career and will provide educational assistance. Teams are driven for success of the project/team/individual.
Cons – hiring process is long and somewhat challenging. Onboarding could be better but management is working on streamlining the process. Ability to create and drive change is there.

Current Employee – been working at Lincoln Financial Group
Pros – People work together share processes, help each other. Good Attitudes team members work together
Cons – Promotions not handled correctly Must be within the "circle". Mgmt clicks CYA, does not share info.
Advice to Senior Management – Fairness should be considered, selection of 1/2 people to excel consistently from mgmt. Opportunities minimum if not a "favorite"

Former Employee – worked at Lincoln Financial Group
Pros – Benefits offerred are not bad.
Cons – Outdated computer system which does not allow for a free flowing production.
Oppresive management that bullys individuals.
Employment positions are billed as "flexible". Not so. You will be reprimanded for being 1 min. late and docked with an "awareness". The "awareness" allowed are 5 in calendar year. Then you will be put on a written warning. This is applied even if you call in with car trouble and arrive late.
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize employees as indivudals with different attributes to contirbute to a team. Mico management DOES NOT bring out the best in personnel.

Former Employee – worked at Lincoln Financial Group
Pros – It all depends on who your manager is, but as far as I know most people were satisfied with goals, expectations, feedback, leeway (to work on PDP projects, travel for development sessions, pursue professional designations, etc.).
Cons – Some PDP projects seemed haphazardly put together, without even a real need for the output. PDP management was not very good about distributing information, case in point: with financial crisis in fall of 2008 PDPs were reasonably worried about there being rotations at the job fair in the spring... no definitive answers for months and then we come to find that there are 15 or so jobs for 80+ people.
Advice to Senior Management – Communication from PDP staff to the PDPs needs to be improved (timeliness and straightforwardness are appreciated). PDP projects should be scrapped in their current format and allow PDPs to be more creative.

Pros – Great coworkers, projects and good culture of people. Great retirement plan!
Cons – financial services doesn't feel as stable as it once was
Advice to Senior Management – I believe it is only a matter of time till the company fully recovers from this financial crisis. Strong commitment to our products and our employees have paid off well during the economic downturn.
