    Pros

You get to work with highly talented individuals and get to work at the cutting edge of advanced silicon technology. Flexible Hours which i think are manager dependant. Great profit sharing.

    Cons

Can sometimes seem elitist and there are no recreational perks. The cafeteria food recycles every month and you get used to it pretty fast.

    Advice to Management

Consider making the place more fun to work for younger people through team building sessions and some additional perk such as a gym.

    Pros

    - Good work-life balance - Some phenomenal analog electrical engineers - Minimal bureaucracy and minimal meetings - Most low-to-mid-level managers are nice - Stable company - They almost never lay people off - Air conditioning and heating are at normal human levels: they don't freeze you with A/C like other companies do

    Cons

Basically, they are slaves to their stock holders: - Profit sharing is a hoax; they manipulate the number however they want. It is much much smaller than real profit sharing would be, and it does not linearly correspond to how well business has done recently, nor even to the stock price. In fact, often times sales go up and profit sharing goes down. You will see less money than they claim to give you during their recruiting spiel. - Your "profit sharing" (read: reason for them to be stingy with everything) will not make up for the fact that they have capped your salary such that if you do a perfect job, then you will get a 3% raise (maximum), barely keeping up with inflation. That percentage has also been steadily decreasing over the past five years. - There are no perks whatsoever. Free snacks? Ha ha, you wish! There is not even a water cooler! Not one water cooler in all five buildings at headquarters. The company will not pay for you to drink purified water at work. You can guess the rest of the perks from there. Their reason? "Profit sharing". That would work fine as a company strategy if it were actually unadulterated, honestly-calculated profit sharing. - There are barely any windows or skylights. You will work in a drab cubicle and walk through colorless hallways, under glaring fluorescent lights all day long. - HR forgot what the first letter of their department stands for. They do not have any means for employees to meet or organize clubs, no team outings or even on-site team building. They act like robots, barely doing what they are told. Expect no empathy from them. To their credit, the company structure is such that they work for the CFO. Their job is to save money. - As an engineer, you likely have never seen equipment as old or minimal as that with which you will be expected to work. Save money.

    Advice to Management

When you tell all of your exempt employees that you are capping their raises at the level of inflation, regardless of how well they perform, have the common decency to give them a reason and to state the decision during a meeting instead of having managers forward a cold two-sentence email from HR with the only input from the manager being "FYI". Either choose to motivate your employees with profit sharing WITHOUT manipulating the number, or give your employees a water cooler and some other human resources.

    Pros

All the engineers are very nice and helpful. Everyone very willing to answer questions and go over concepts with the interns. A relatively relaxed work environment. I don't think any of the interns were ever hounded too much, as long as you get your work done. There were events specifically for the interns such as talks from different departments and outside "field trip" sort of events. Internship actually pays very well compared to other similar companies.

    Cons

As an intern sometimes it's hard to be fully utilized in a way that is completely rewarding, if that makes sense. It's understandable to a certain extent but can be frustrating at times. Although people are nice and are willing to answer questions, you're mostly on your own when working on projects and assignments.

    Advice to Management

Not sure about this. I was only an intern and I have a pretty positive experience. I wasn't exposed to too many of the problems, even if I heard about them.

    Pros

Low turnover, nice profit sharing payouts (2x/ year, over 25% the last couple of years), 1.5 month paid sabbatical after 5 years, above average medical/ dental plan design with low monthly contributions, 4% raises each year (most companies in the market are between 2.5-3%), No BS culture straight forward/ direct, performance focused, most managers are honest/ fair and will vouch for their employees/ department, good people, stable company

    Cons

Employees tend to want to retire here which is a good thing but also makes it difficult to move up the ladder. Old school mind-set "if it doesn't break it doesn't need to be changed", no frills (no free food, gym, etc) but it's not that important, you need to speak up if you want something (management doesn't give it to you, you have to ask for it)

    Advice to Management

Be open to newer ways of operating (less paperwork more online)

    Pros

Good technical people Stock USED to be good - but not anymore.

    Cons

The management STILL think they are running a startup and they are doing everyone a favor by letting them work there. The still think everyone there will get rich and work them hard. Those same technical people are very arrogant. Coupled with a CYA environment it can be very frustrating to learn since they'll jump all over your but if you admit you don't know something. Profit sharing has been decreasing ALOT. I remember when it went as high as 68% but now it stays in the high 30's. Not good. Especially with the lower salaries. Old equipment. Mgmt is good at encouraging employees to save money. In the past that effort was rewarded with higher profit sharing. Nowadays, there is no incentive to slog through using old equipment and making my job tougher. Especially since I'll never benefit from my effort to save money. Very little opportunity for advancement. Mngment has given up ALOT of business and the company has had slow growth. Things they say in EVERY quarterly meeting: 1) Keep your nose to the grind stone!!!! -- (so mngmnt can benefit while the workers are stiffed) 2) Wall street doesn't like us but they'll soon see how good we are --- It's been over a decade and wall street hasn't noticed yet. WTF is mgmnt smoking?!?!?! 3) Let's keep costs down --- So mgmnt can benefit while they keep lowering profit sharing?

    Pros

Profit sharing is good and compensates for mediocre salary

    Cons

After many years here, feel like I'm being treated more like a grunt than a contributing employee.

    Advice to Management

The 'bottom line' is important, but so are your loyal people.

Really great place to learn about analog circuits. You also get to learn a lot of hands-on lab skills

    Cons

You don't get as much "swag" and other office perks like free food and drinks like software companies but that's not too important

    Pros

Solid in most areas. Good engineering talent especially in Design and Applications. Can be financially rewarding and job security is good. 4 or 6 week (depending on position) sabbatical every 5 years in addition to normal vacation.

    Cons

Company culture is somewhat stuffy, especially considering that it is a high tech company. Company tends to really adhere to the phrase "do more with less". Demanding.
