    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGreat Benefits - insurance, 401k etc
Flexibility - open to take longer lunch to run errands, work from home

ConsBad communication between departments - it can be ver confusing and training does not exist. Pay is okay for what you are expected to do.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop the confusion between the departments, make them more transparent.

ProsGood place to get your feet wet and leard about the industry. Exposure to many basic areas of the sales enviorment.

ConsNot a signifigant chance of advancement. Poor intergration with parent company Cisco Systems. Quick and frequent abandonment of failed product lines.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind your own path. Set realistic expectations. Acknowledge where you haven't applied enough effort and where you have strayed off course.

    Nice experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsVery good working environment for a technician/ engineer! Everyone is just so friendly and informative that I did not have any fears towards anything going on in the company~

ConsNone based on what I remember

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees were predominantly Taiwanese as the company was found by a Taiwanese married couple, later sold to Cisco. Maybe it will be better to have more employees of other ethnicities

    A company in transition

    Software Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsIf you are interested in developing small electronic devices that people like to use, like routers or other home or small business networking equipment, Linksys should be an excellent place to be. Lots of little and medium size projects, and very friendly people.

ConsLinksys has tended to farm primary development to shops outside the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementVastly improve QA. The high-end consumer products have been too complicated, unreliable and expensive. The company should as a whole figure out how to write and maintain product software. Staff should develop an eye for products that customers want to buy. Sometimes, the Cisco-level goals and ideals appear to distract more than help.

Sometimes devices like routers, which people rarely interact with during normal use, should have unobtrusive industrial design, rather than attempt to make a fashion statement; while other devices, like network radios, which people interact with all the time, should have been given some fashion sense.
