Pros
It is a pretty easy firm to recruit for.

Knee-jerk style of executive eadership.

When the company first moved to the Charlotte area, it was a great company to work for, then the company started merging and the opportunities became fewer and far between.

The management staff does not do a good job of coaching for career development. The advancement opportunities only go to the employees who are the favorites and not for the ones who are qualified to do the job.

LPL has a great concept built by previous management. It is now run and executed by people who have little or no industry knowledge and whose only desire is to line their own wallet

Management is so far in over their head - i do not believe their is a chance of recovery without sweeping management changes. I think mark may have a clue but he is surrounded by very little talent

Low fees, decent technology, complete freedom to sell any product. Great alternative investment selections. No management interference. Good compliance support.

Unrecognizable name on resume in industry and to clients. Home office support could be a lot better. No real time option quotes.

Look into more advanced trading software. Go public and award stock options. Develop a better retention bonus program. Advertise a bit more.

The ability to invest in every available financial product. Early in my career, in was limited to a handful of mutual funds. LPL allows me to further help my clients achieve their financial goals.

LPL is getting bigger and bigger. That may seem like a good thing, but sometimes support may not have the information I need.

We need to train our support a little better. There are times I call in twice or three times to ensure I have the correct answer for a particular problem.

Entry into financial services industry. Work in an office, good benefits. Potential stock options for promised IPO that will happen "someday".

Senior management has changed a lot from the group that built LPL over the past 20 years to the group that runs the company today.

Senior management should introduce themselves to the employees.

LPL is a growth company among their peer group. They have experience 3 times growth over the last 3 years and should continue to grow following the 2009 recession. LPL as a firm is positioned to grow their independent model and RIA model by focusing their efforts on the recruitment of this space in 2009 and beyond.
Cons
With the expansive growth over the last few years LPL has experienced the normal output from Mergers and Aquisitions. The rapid growth has required fast paced hiring practices in the 2007 and 2008 timeframes which has resulted in low employe tenure and training issues.

Look for opportunities to promote from within for executive level positions.
