Pros

International environment with pleasant and helpful colleagues on peer level.

Cons

There are too many incompetent people in management who seem too afraid to loose their jobs and accept no criticism whatsoever. Information is by some even kept very close an not shared even though it would be vital and save a lot of work for the people who do the drudging work for them. Management is too afraid of changes, and when one is proposed, useless meetings take place to inform everyone about it...However, soon all is back to the old ways.

Advice to Senior Management

Show more respect towards your employees. When you do have competent people, work with them, do not be afraid of them. Hire professional management, not those who just happened to have been in the right place at the right time when positions needed to be filled in. The arrogance of management is clearly visible to all and when you want to build and maintain an organization, you do not go around offending the people you need the most.

Lionbridge Corporate Slave in Waltham, MA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

If you are an introvert, like to be left alone rotting in your own cubicle, come and work here!
If playing office politics is your favorite past time hobby, they'll love to have you onboard.
If you have hearing problems you'll enjoy working here because managers here like to yell at people, literally yelling!
Free coffee!!!

Cons

It doen't matter how well you had done your job before, once you make a little mistake, they just fire you.
To cut cost, they like to fire "under-performed" people but in fact, no performace reviews or warning had ever been given, I guess they bet on those people would never consult a lawyer.

Lionbridge Rater:   (Current Employee)

Pros

- Although it originally looked like it might be just another internet-based employment scam, Lionbridge is a completely legitimate business
- Work whenever you have time
- Pay is pretty good for this type of job

Cons

- The performance of day-to-day operations in their headquarters is terrible. Lots of mistakes and extremely poor communication. Management has to do a lot of damage control.
- After a mistake is made that affects you, you will be ignored. You have to make a lot of noise to get forwarded to a manager who is capable of helping you.
- Don't expect a problem to get solved after you've gone to the trouble of dealing with it once - the same exact problem is likely to occur next time.

Advice to Senior Management

Put together a more capable administrative team. Headquarters staff are dragging down the business and making it difficult for people to want to do their jobs. Who is responding to emails over there?

Lionbridge Project Manager:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Offers great entry level opportunity
Good Benefits for Full time employees

Cons

Low Wages, driven lower by upper managements cutting of bill rates to clients. Profit driven by cuts in employee wages.
No real opportunity for promotion, employees pidgeon holed
Senior Management protect themselves and throw their employees under the bus

Advice to Senior Management

Realize that your employees are your meal ticket and without them you have nothing to sell. Stop giving the store away and trying to be the low cost provider and start taking some pride it what you have to offer

Lionbridge Test Engineer in Fort Collins, CO:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Great people and management. Good customer service.

Cons

Very low wages! Advancement is hard to come by.

Advice to Senior Management

Sell outside of the existing work. The sales team should be bringing in new business not feeding off of what the Ops Managers bring in.

Lionbridge Anonymous:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

If you are interested in the localization industry, Lionbridge is a great place to learn. They have projects in all major verticals globally. If you like a business with lots of international colleagues, this is another plus.

Cons

Lack of innovative thinking could really hurt Lionbridge. Often times, the "one size fits all" processes employed by Lionbridge will not work for customers. Pricing can be higher than competitors and in a highly price sensitive industry, this can hurt business. Very little formal training offered.

Advice to Senior Management

Consider lead generation strategies to help bring the Lionbridge name into verticals where Lionbridge has very little market share. Ongoing training can benefit many groups in the organization to continue to operate/behave in ways that drive profitability.

Cons

Work under high pressure

Advice to Senior Management

Manager should have been following normal flow:
Production then lead, then senior job and finally Management, this is rarely the case ....

Pros

Working at home; very kind treat

Only one time I had problem with a Project Manager who delayed some payments. I was solved after four months and lot of emails.

Should give us the possibility to give some feedback about Project Managers or Team Leaders. Some of them are not up to the rest.
