Pros
Excellent benefits - but only for those who are hired in NY- if you work for one of the divisions in LA, you may not receive the same package.
In NY, 21 days of vacation out of the gate, frequent sample sales, matching 401K, good health insurance. Great group of people, many with long careers in the industry - good place to learn about the wholesale fashion business.
Some of my very best, challenging & productive work years were spent there - I'm proud to be an alumni.
Cons
Liz Claiborne was founded as a company with forward-thinking respect for its employees & the core of that has survived on the corporate level - however, its brands have increasing autonomy - not all of them share the same values. It's a shame.
Advice to Senior Management
Liz Claiborne has a legacy of delivering to its accounts well made, innovative product in a timely fashion - its wholesale backbone & team of experienced professionals are a valuable resource.
Pros
To gain experience and take it with you to your next job.
Cons
Corporate culture, poor leadership, lack of vision
Pros
Time Off and Flexible. great place
Cons
no room for growth unfortunately
Advice to Senior Management
great place to work for but no room for growth. hopefully company turns around and sees positivie gain. Hopefully start to hire
Pros
If you want to learn about product development process this is a good place.
Cons
Not a focused company, constant changing of direction.
Advice to Senior Management
If you downsize emplyees you should not ban them from being hired by other divisions of the company-that is disgraceful.
Pros
Was always a very stable and growing company with very talented team players. Company always had peaks and valleys, like any other in the fashion industry, but would always rebound.
Cons
With the current Senior Management Team the company has totally lost its footing in the fashion industry and is struggling to stay relevant which is not happening. Stock has plummeted - losing nearly 90% of its value. Management has been making extremely poor businesses decisions.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring celebrity wannabees with enormous salaries who have contributed absolutely nothing to the growth of the company but continue make their TV appearances while doing nothing for Liz Claiborne. If dedicated people were hired who were totally dedicated to Liz Claiborne instead of TV fame, the company would not be in the the shape it is in right now. The once bright light in the fashion industry is barely a flicker!
Pros
Lots of perks. Sample sales, summer hours, 21 vacation days
Cons
Upper management is horrible at communicating when big changes take place. Employees find out most of the changes through press releases on the internet. They keep selling all the brands. I would be surprised if they are still in business in a year.
Pros
Good vacation package and summer hours
Casual dress code
Friendly people
Work load was OK
Cons
Senior management have their favorites
Not career advancement
Advice to Senior Management
The Senior management should trust the managers under them. The senior management have their hand tied and it looks like the middle management has no power.
Pros
generous vacation package - 21 days and summer hours
casual dress code and work environment, friendly people among associates
easy internal transfer
opportunity for advancement.
Cons
unstable
lack of competent leaders.
poor communication from senior management
Advice to Senior Management
Associates need motivations. .Information from top management need to filter all the way down to every employees. suggest to make recognition to employee who make contribution. Associate should have a chance to review their superior performance and to make improvement.
Pros
This company offers great opportunities for creativity wether in desgin, marketing or others. We have fabulous people working here and some recent additions have brought meaningful improvements.
Cons
A bit disorganized. Policies are not always broadcasted and are not that easy to find so not all employees are aware. Members of management do not all walk the talk.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate, communicate, communicate. When you think everybody knows, think otherwise because your messages are not understood by all.
Pros
Good benefits, and discount. Store management as well as most RM's and DM's are fair and understanding. Fun working environment if you enjoy working with customers and meeting new people.
Cons
The upper management continually asks for new ideas and any issues with product yet when given that information they do not use it to improve the product. Of course as with many retailers at times the expectations of what needs to be completed is not reflected in the amount of payroll given at the store level. The outlet division closed due to many of these very issues.
Advice to Senior Management
You should have listened to your customers through our feedback! Profitability was solely put on our shoulders however we could not sell product that did not meet our customers needs!
