I worked at Lloyd's Register full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent employee benefits, salary review and bonus happen every year, local management are great. Culture changed drastically around 2012/13 when there were some leadership restructures.

    Cons

Decisions made by teams in London who have no idea what's happening in local offices. Amount of time and money wasted on some projects was shocking. Very old fashioned business struggling to drag itself into the 21st Century - some benefits to that (i.e generous benefits package) but many more disadvantages.

    Pros

Nice building to work in. Good pension contribution scheme and holidays

    Cons

Employees are treated like school children. Constantly clock watched. Policies for the sake of policies. Makes for a very boring work day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All I heard during my time there was 'policies & procedures demonstrated by graphs that nobody can really explain. Lots of smoke and no fire. Middle management have double standards. In the office - the top two managers act like Punch and Judy.

    Pros

their strapline - life matters! the history of the company.

    Cons

the welfare and life of their employees clearly do not matter. management bullying, lack of processes and ability to follow them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    conduct staff surveys.
promote staff to management positions based on management potential not technical know-how.
update the skills of managers - they are outdated!
