I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Cons

Piled on more and more job requirements each year

    Advice to Management

Introduce job expectations well in advance

    Pros

Stable contract with growing federal customer in Baltimore. Corporate stretch assignments were available, but shrinking overall.

    Cons

Losing market share to other contractors in an IDIQ environment. Without investment, customer was looking elsewhere for new ideas and services.

    Advice to Management

Invest. Find great people and pay them more. Remove the dead wood.

    Pros

Lockheed is forward looking, thoughtful about their perspective, honest and well managed.

    Cons

Benefits are generic, if not subpar. Health deduction is currently $1000 per family member -- so keep that in mind before you sign! Why would anyone want to stay that long? In the services group (which is being spun off) we are migrant workers, moving from one project to another -- or not -- if the client likes us, we could stay longer. What this means is that you do get a whole lot of different experiences (if you want them), but it does not engender specialization.

    Advice to Management

    Better benefits will engender retention.
