Pros
Benifet package, Work schedule. Holliday time off.
Cons
Unpredictable Layoffs, parking and could use more access to computers for floor employees.
Advice to Senior Management
More face to face time with employees.
Pros
Good salary and benefits.
Ultimate goal is to work on products that help our troops and defend our country.
Management has good communication skills and are open about any topic.
Cons
Job is not stable for more than two years.
Need to relocate often to stay employed.
Hard to advance in career path.
No budget for training and learning new technology.
Pros
Constantly on the cutting edge of technology
Benefits package better than normal
Medical insurance awesome
Magnificent training programs and knowledge sharing
Cons
High stress environment with demands to get job done quickly even when support may not be available. Not a place to work for the thinned skinned.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep moving us in the direction that we're headed because we appear to be less affected by the state of the economy than our competitors.
Pros
Some of the best reasons to work for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services are the quality people that I worked alongside, the ability to advance in your career, the ability to transfer to other jobs through a wide geographical area, and the overall compensation package.
Cons
As a corporation, Lockheed Martina Information Systems & Global Services does not always promote based on merit. It is very easy to get into a program or work site where favoritism and politics exist.
Pros
Highly Ethical
Well organized
Great co-workers
Work/Life Balance
Cons
Highly bureaucratic
Size limits flexibility
Not as great of a company as it once was
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage educated risks by employees. The environment stymies creativity.
Pros
Frequent work at Subase away from manager allows for McDonalds / Dunkin Donuts / Lunch stops and occasional international business travel.
Cons
Terrible, terrible, terrible management. Management has little thought for employee satisfaction. Very little room for prefessional development and promotion. No raises outside of cost-of-living increases. Got a 1.92% raise with a promotion which involved a moderate increase in responsibility and expectations. After this, It took less than 3 months to find a new employer.
Advice to Senior Management
Operations manager needs to make serious consideration of a mandatory closed door, confidential interview with the employees at the New London Towed Systems IMA location regarding their manager.
Pros
Good Benefits
Interesting Projects
Great work life balance
Cons
Lower pay then other software engineering positions
Old school management philosophy
Advice to Senior Management
Pay software engineers more. Centralized hiring like Microsoft or Google instead of the current decentralized method.
Pros
Lots of opportunity and directions to go for engineering opportunity
Cons
Bureaucratic and very process oriented which can slow the rate of a product development
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
The Benefits are really good. Working conditions are above average as well as the flex time working the 9/80 work schedule.
Cons
Promotional Opportunities don't exist for older workers. Once you have reached an age level your pretty much have come to an end for advancement..
Advice to Senior Management
Lockheed Martin is top heavy with a lot of senior citizens. There are moe seniors staying because the younger engineer coming in the manufacturing industry don't see a long term career. There are peak and valleys in the Aerospce field. When times are good we hire and when it's bad we need to keep the experience people to get the job done. Beside, if you like what you do why retire.
Pros
I like the projects in which I gain experience with the technology and the business aspect.
Cons
Before the interview, I did a research on glassdoor in order to find out about LM from the insiders. I saw an average rating of 3 with some positive reviews.
To my surprise, my work experience has been close to being unbearable. The management makes very unrealistic deadlines in order to push people to be highly productive. The deadlines are so unreasonable that it has become almost impossible to take time to go to the bathroom, or even take a 5-minute break during the day.
They throw at you many things at the same time and talk so fast that you don't even have time to take notes. They are so intense and nervous that everyone feels the pressure.
They push you very hard. They micro-manage how you spend every minute. They don't treat you like a professional.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat others as you would like to be treated.
