    Pros

Back in the Cold War days, we made *lots* of influencing products - Often very innovative, highly integrated, and effective...

    Cons

At some point along the way, processes & profits became "more" important than the product - Not bad if your a shareholder but the product cutting edge

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We used to put the products first and the processes and profits would fall into place - When you put profits and processes ahead of products, the products become mundane... Mundane products isn't what Lockheed was about....

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time

    Pros

    Receiving your check on time

    Cons

Blatant unequal & unethical treatment of employees working in the same department by mangagement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement a value added process whereby employees can fairly rate managers and hold them accountable to conducting ethical business and management principles. I should mention names, but remain hopeful this company will improve their management style.

    Pros

Work with a lot of good people. Very laid back and friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Management doesn't listen the people doing the work. A lot of wasteful spending.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

We puled off incredibly technically challenging accomplishments and dealt with risk head on - Where others would fear to tread.

    Cons

Rapid promotion and advancements based on accomplishment made it difficult to compete in the local markets when it was over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None necessary - Reading the Corporate Annual Report, I believe they already know the status of aerospace in Houston.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This company offers flex time to their employees on most contracts ( when possible), and promotes balance between their employee's lives and the workplace . Don't get me wrong - employees are expected to step up and work VERY HARD when it comes to deadlines and deliverables. LM also promotes from within when possible. They also have an advanced leadership program for ambitious employees. This is a highly ethical company that embraces diversity.

    Cons

All of Lockheed's work is contract based -so layoffs can be common and frequent. But they try to place employees in other jobs, if they are willing to travel or take a lesser positions. After being laid off once, I was re-hired. Current crunch with Fed real funding could impact company's future profit and opportunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't use all the "corporate-ease" to communicate with us - just speak English.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedules, multiple locations for jobs (if you are willing to move around the country), benefits are pretty decent. The culture is laid back, at least in my area,

    Cons

Government contractor - so this means with each new administration you have to be prepared for changes in your contract or budget. This was my first job out of college but I'm not sure how people stay here for 20+ years when every 4 years your program can be scrutinized and/or canceled. The good thing is that LM has many different areas of the country they operate in so if you are young you can just get up and move around quite easily.
