    Pros

We puled off incredibly technically challenging accomplishments and dealt with risk head on - Where others would fear to tread.

    Cons

Rapid promotion and advancements based on accomplishment made it difficult to compete in the local markets when it was over.

    Advice to Management

None necessary - Reading the Corporate Annual Report, I believe they already know the status of aerospace in Houston.

    Pros

This company offers flex time to their employees on most contracts ( when possible), and promotes balance between their employee's lives and the workplace . Don't get me wrong - employees are expected to step up and work VERY HARD when it comes to deadlines and deliverables. LM also promotes from within when possible. They also have an advanced leadership program for ambitious employees. This is a highly ethical company that embraces diversity.

    Cons

All of Lockheed's work is contract based -so layoffs can be common and frequent. But they try to place employees in other jobs, if they are willing to travel or take a lesser positions. After being laid off once, I was re-hired. Current crunch with Fed real funding could impact company's future profit and opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Don't use all the "corporate-ease" to communicate with us - just speak English.

    Pros

Flexible schedules, multiple locations for jobs (if you are willing to move around the country), benefits are pretty decent. The culture is laid back, at least in my area,

    Cons

Government contractor - so this means with each new administration you have to be prepared for changes in your contract or budget. This was my first job out of college but I'm not sure how people stay here for 20+ years when every 4 years your program can be scrutinized and/or canceled. The good thing is that LM has many different areas of the country they operate in so if you are young you can just get up and move around quite easily.

    Pros

    Good benefits
Work Life Balance - the pace is slow but this allows you to not be overworked. 9/80 schedules are nice
    Good location across from NASA

    Cons

Put new employees fresh out of college in Houston while direct managers were based in Denver. Little contact between new members and rest of team. Led to great inefficiencies.

    Slow pace

    Advice to Management

    Care about what you're doing

    Pros

Some truly great people, very exciting cutting edge technology, proud accomplishments, very competitive and challenging work environment, being a part of history may be a reward in itself

    Cons

with high expectations and high demands can come a terrific amount of pressure, often long arduous hours, often long periods of travel

    Advice to Management

Better honest appreciation of individual effort of those who go above and beyond

    Pros

Fair compensation and they were willing to relocate me.
Easy to move to other places within the company in other parts of the country.

    Cons

My biggest complaint here was the yearly review and trying to talk to HR. If you're not satisfied with your yearly review and don't get a satisfactory explanation for it, don't look to HR for any help.

    Advice to Management

I had no complaints with my manager. He did more for me than HR ever did and was always checking to see if I was happy.

    Pros

This review is for Lockheed Space Systems Company - I worked there for 3 years out of college

    A variety of benefits
    *Strong benefit package
*Pay is comparable with the aerospace industry
*Great time off - 9/80 schedule
*Has some of the best contracts in the industry

    Cons

The huge downside is the bureaucracy. They sent me and all of the other 40 or so new hires to Houston, TX...when the entire management team was in Denver. As a college hire, my manager, lead, and the rest of the team (except for a few other new hires) were all in Denver. Needless to say, this meant that my development and my opportunities were hindered.

The bureaucracy that allowed such a set-up to occur showed itself in other ways. Work was done slowly and projects were consistently behind schedule. It seemed that for every person doing real work, there were about 3 people just sitting around. This made it hard to get real work that develops skills and it made promotions and development opportunities hard to come by. I definitely don't recommend Lockheed.

    Advice to Management

Keep your teams small so that they can stay lean and efficient.
