I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well organized company, good software tools with good benefits. They have some very good in-house training along with some mandatory training.

    Cons

Not real good at integrating new hires or new businesses. It takes a long time to learn the Lockheed Martin way of doing business.

    Advice to Management

The advice would be for better hands on training for new hires and some better promotion pathways that are easily understood by the employees.

I worked at Lockheed Martin (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits Stimulating, difficult work Civilian aerospace project that didn't feel morally compromised Fun coworkers with whom I'm still close Flexible scheduling

    Cons

Huge company with matching bureaucracy Standard operating procedures limited possibility for innovation Most of their NASA projects ended, so if you don't want to develop weapons, your options are pretty limited today

    Advice to Management

Managing projects with contingent or unreliable government funding is very hard; I understand this. However, it's your job as leaders to protect employees from the rollercoaster ride of Congressional funding announcements, NASA policy debates, and program reorganizations/cancellations. When highly trained technical people feel that their jobs are not secure, they will bolt. It's a law of physics.
