I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Large company, lots of opportunity to move around and gain experience in different roles and settings. The company does a good job of placing people when contracts end, meaning you're typically only laid off if you don't have a very broad skill set or you are in a situation where you want to be (found other employment, near retirement, etc). Work life balance is valued and most positions allow a flexible work week. Top ethical employer.

    Cons

Big company has a lot of process and bureaucracy. Pay towards the lower end. Only option for health insurance is LM health plan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more on talent development - allow reimbursement for classes related to job that are not part of a degree program. Certifications and training are valuable and relevant to advancing talent.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent Benefits. Decent amount of time off. Awards and recognition for doing your job well. Lot of community involvement and social employee functions. Schedule flexibility. No overbearing management.

    Cons

Making changes to employee status seems to be an enigma that no one in management can figure out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn the intricacies of the system. Employees should not have to spend hours trying to correct issues with their status or information that management should know how to correct in the first place.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Flexible in several aspects- approved to work part time when fit with both the project and a move cross country- ramped back up when the project took on more responsibility. Worked remotely when not at subcontractor or traveling. Very smart, capable, colleagues- many experts available companywide to tap from. Accessible training to stay updated, highly ethical.
Always proud that there were many women in high level technical management at one of the largest defense companies.

    Cons

Too large at times and unable to get common processing across the board. Felt like reinventing the wheel when you know it has been done elsewhere. Constantly working to improve the common processing.
Spent a lot of time and money changing employee evaluation system - added much confusion without many benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Continue to maintain high standards.
Look to reduce e-mails and do more collaboration to increase productivity.
