    I worked at Loeb & Loeb full-time

    Pros

sometimes there are free tickets to sporting events and Broadway shows

    Cons

-negotiated hard when it came to salary, first request was refused, had to ask again -weak HR department -lots of "lifer" employees that aren't that good at their jobs -never close early the day preceding a holiday, even though attorneys are gone and the office is empty

    Pros

Century City is a great location.

    Cons

Extremely high benefits that most arent able to afford (including some attorneys). No vision insurance though we sit in front of a computer daily. Hostile work environment due to management allowing attorneys to yell at staff. Management is aware however due to attorneys bringing in revenue nothing is done about it. No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Casual fridays would be nice. Stop allowing attorneys to yell and demean staff!!

None whatsoever while I was there

    Cons

Snobs everywhere and gang-like circles that's hard to make friends.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate your staff and pay attention to those associates who treat their staff horribly.

    Pros

Opportunity to learn outside your targeted law practice

No chance to grow and learn another department besides that of an Admin Assistant position.

    Advice to Management

Provide in depth hands on training

    Pros

While I was at the firm, the firm culture promoted a high-class professional environment, intelligent and very well-managed organizational structure, encouraged growth and development through training programs for associates and paralegals, passionate and highly skilled attorney staff, a true sense of belonging and wanting to do your very best, and a strong compensation and benefit package offered to all employees.

    Cons

Work life balance could sometimes be a challenge even when not preparing for and participating in trials or arbitrations, and case staffing needs sometimes could not be met.

    Advice to Management

Continue seeking out and hiring a diverse group of professionals at the entry, mid and senior levels to create a well-balanced staff.

    Pros

It's a stable firm organized in relatively small, independent practice groups. Clients are usually large institutions so the work often involves serving an in-house lawyer. Generally, lawyers are smart and slightly nerdy but polite. Your experience will depend on the partner(s) to whom you report (and how many). It's a pleasant place overall. Looks great on the resume when you leave.

    Cons

The firm seems to approach the practice of law from a very conservative position. Politics among partners is a factor but behind the scenes. Sometimes it seems as if a bunch of sole practitioners are sharing space and resources. Bonuses seem modest compared to other firms of this size. It's not great at diversity (although there are openly gay male partners).

    Advice to Management

Bonus calculation needs to be more transparent. Management styles of partners are indirect, at best. Lawyers need to learn how to manage people & communicate feedback more clearly. The firm also feels like it hasn't changed in decades. The stunning under-representation of racial minorities and women among the partners speaks volumes and limits the firm's world view. The corporate culture feels like 1970, which will not attract modern clients or retain innovative lawyers.

    Pros

Staff comp is excellent (to make up for pricey health insurance). Lots of employees have been there for a long time.

    Cons

Weak HR department. Grossly overpriced health insurance. Not a competitive benefits package vis a vis other law firms. Sexual harassment is tolerated. Lack of resources. No staff development. No interest in doing things a new and/or better way. Too many lifer employees promoted beyond their capability.

    Advice to Management

Stop confusing length of service with ability to do a job.

    Pros

Great pay, benefits and culture. Ongoing training, great office services. Great bonuses.

    Cons

Partners are snobbish. That is really the only negative I have to say.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

Loeb could be a great company to work if the culture of the Chicago office were much different.

    Pros

    - close proximity to river taxi and Metra station - most of the partners are good to with and are great people

    Cons

    - OA is not a good advocate for staff and does not communicate well - Office never closes early preceding a holiday (even when all attorneys/paralegals have left) - Culture of office is challenging and often rude (e.g. people will look directly at you and not speak) - Salary is ok but the reviews are a joke - work is not challenging - no matching 401(k)

    Advice to Management

I'm not sure where to start or if it is even worth it because staff morale is extremely low.
