    ProsGreat company to work for, they provided a cafeteria for employee meals, gave awesome employee hotel discounts to other locations, fun atmosphere to work in.

    ConsThe only con was the pay could of been better.

    Advice to Senior ManagementManagement was very friendly, they worked with you on having time off to explore and enjoy other hotel locations.

    ProsThe feed the employees, give the proper training, match 401K, give vacation time even for part time employees, and give discounts.

    ConsThey are too focused on standards, there is no accountability (some people have different rules), different departments have different rules, manager go in and out which gives no consistency.

    Equal parts rewarding & exasperating.

    ProsA bit more 'right brained' work culture was very refreshing, but we did have our core values to uphold. In my specific department, a culture of teamwork & professionalism was organic, that we did not have to force such to occur.

    ConsManagement is either promoted from within & not given proper tools to succeed (thus remaining incompetent vs. their new responsibilities) or promoted, yet one's megalomania means the promoted manager still wants to micromanage.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFar too many decisions are made through the 'Ready, Shoot, Aim' model, thus wasting capital, disrupting schedules, & creating embarrassment (line team members see these things). Provincial mindsets enable such decision making by that manager not seeking assistance or advice, causing decisions that are not nearly correct, meaning issues or problems are having to be 'fixed' multiple times. Promoting from within a company has many, many merits, but when the decision to promote from within is being made with the knowledge that the team member will be able to be paid less (hometown discount), and that is a massive reason for the promotion to be consummated, yet their skill set is shockingly immature, how can team members look at such a decision and feel confident that the proper & prudent decision has been made? Sacrosanct decisions made out of fear during the first month of the year regarding operations have tendencies to backfire and create the poor reviews no company wants, especially Loews. Such decisions put middle management and line employees in extremely untenable positions as they are the point employees vis a vis guest contact.

    Awesome place for a job.

    ProsAwesome people and management. Free food at the cafeteria for your break-time. Hotel perks; get a room from any Loews hotel in the country for $50

    ConsSlow advancement and the schedule is somewhat seasonal (Full-time w/ overtime in the Summer and Part-time with furloughs in the Winter).

    They don't know how to hire for growth

    ProsCompared to other hotels in the Santa Monica area, the pay was decent.

    ConsThe hotel is union so it is impossible to move up and grow within the company. The work/life balance is absolutely terrible.

    Advice to Senior ManagementStart hiring people you see for long-term positions instead of being so near-sighted. You hire some really talented people but then refuse to use them to their potential.
