    I worked at Logica

    Pros

Logica Richmond was a great place to work because of the technical expertise of my coworkers. Just about everyone was knowledgeable, helpful, and very nice.
The vacation benefits were great. The pay was good because just about everyone inherited their salary from Cisco. Cisco sold the uOne (Richmond) business unit to CMG. Later Locica and CMG merged to become LogicaCMG and later it was changed back to Logica.

    Cons

Senior Management did not understand the products being developed and seemed to place little or no value in the technical expertise, experience, and knowledge of many who worked there.
I think most felt under appreciated.
No pay raise, no stock option & no bonus resulted in my decision to leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hiring someone off the street to manage the business unit does not work well when the folks hired don't understand telephony or internet messaging.

    I worked at Logica

    Pros

Competitive Salary and Benefits and ability to actually use vacation time

    Cons

Extremely poor top-down communication, leadership, morale and career building

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ALL members of Sr Management should verify communication is sent down the way - when one member fails, the whole line fails; when the same member is known to fail time and time again at communicating down the chain (failure to perform reviews, failure to acknowledge direct reports/employees, etc), then SR Mgmt is actually failing

    Pros

    work life balance was reasonable

    Cons

too many to name.Greedy management. Insecurity. No incentives, 4 years without a raise. When got one on 5th year it was peanuts. No growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take care of the people who make money for you and not the ones who spend it all.

Once a Great British Company, which became an awful place to work.

I worked at Logica full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Most frontline Logica/CGI technical/delivery staff will say that it was your immediate colleagues and the camaraderie that made Logica once a great place to work. This often led to a level of motivation and commitment that drove too many of Logica’s successes. However this was sadly rarely rewarded by a self-serving top heavy layer of management.

    Cons

Don’t waste your time working here for too long if you have any technical ability: 1. You won’t be recognised or rewarded by their greedy bonus hungry 'blame cultured' project managers, who have often brown-nosed their way into said role because they weren’t capable enough to do real work; 2. There is a very ill thought out internal job market form of resource management, and most of the project work that CGI wins is quite poor, so you’ll often end up doing antiquated legacy work instead of what you were originally recruited for (i.e. Java/.Net etc.). 3. As in my case, I got fed up on my last project and left because I was forced to work away from home for long periods, worked hours that flaunted the European guidelines, and was refused overtime after originally being promised it (unfortunately not in writing by a very two-faced PM).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your front-line staff, as most of your good experienced staff have left the sinking ship a long time ago to actually get salaries in line with what we're worth in the market. You now have a load of clueless fresh graduates that have no experienced people to mentor them, and who are actually an embarrassment to put in front of the client.

I worked at Logica full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Dedicated, professional, intelligent people. Real overseas work opportunities and a real willingness to move staff around within the business, both functionally and geographically, in order to develop their careers. A commitment to staff training. Good pay. The company was acquisitive, geographically expanding and ambitious.

    Cons

Some politics at higher levels. Long hours was the norm. My colleague's young daughter said "Why don't Logica daddies come home during the week?" But staff turnover was quite low. Most people felt they would put up with the long hours because the work was mentally rewarding for the most part and the pay was good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
