I have been working at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

As a Swiss private bank, pays better than other European PBs. Employees in Europe tend to like the work life balance and stability there, and stay in the firm for 10-20 years.

    Cons

Stick to the European offices and avoid Asia where change has been the culture. Very unsettling for the last 5 to 8 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some managing partners are outright royalty.. or so they thought. Especially in Asia, which is one of the reason LO / LOIM is not at its full potential there.

I worked at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

One of the best private banks in the world as it is a leader in wealth management and the conservative approach is very helpful as clients feel their money is secure

    Cons

Hasn't taken the expansive approach and very conservative which is negative as their rates are not very competitive and it is hard to get new business although older clients are very satisfied

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more reactive to regional offices

    Pros

    LO has a high reputation
one could be proud to work for one of the oldest banks in Europe
    international network

    Cons

they are not going with the trend
quite conservative - it is not fun to work there (as it might be with IT companies)
do not really support part-time work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

please communicate more often to employees
do more marketing in the German part of CH
continue the way you have done for the last decades

I have been working at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch

    Pros

    Good work-life balance
Good employment stability, you can change job profile
Good salary and benefits, not lower than average multinational in Geneva
Good location in the Geneva area

    Cons

Communication between teams is low and leads to inefficiencies (re-inventing the wheel)
    Team spirit is low
Missing executive and middle management leadership
Openly address issues in meetings is very negatively perceived - too much politics

    Doesn't Recommend

    Relaxed, but boring...

I have been working at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch

    Pros

Substantially less pressure than working in an investment bank.
Small office where everyone gets along and new employees fit in quickly.
Private banking job is fulfilling: banker-client relationships are forged to last for a long time and very often develop into social acquaintances outside the office.
Very little micro-management - everyone shares a similar amount of responsibility in their work.
Competitive salary, for the senior employees.

    Cons

    Work can be very mundane.
Not much of an office atmosphere as small number of employees is made worse by the spacious office floor and the fact that employees are often out wining and dining with (potential) clients, making the office appear ghostly quiet at times.
Very difficult to get promotion, as everything has to go through head office in Geneva.
Similar to the point above, things can get annoyingly bureaucratic working in the London office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employ more people, especially secretaries.
