I have been working at Long Island Jewish Medical Center

    Pros

It's close to home and some of the union benefits are good.

    Cons

Low salaries for union employees and a complete lack of morale. LIJ now has an anti union mentality which makes for a very hostile environment. There is no chance for advancement, top heavy in management, not enough motivated people to do the actual patient care work while supervisors and managers spend all their time in nonproductive meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise salaries. Do not hide behind the bromide that 'the union is responsible for your salaries'. Listen to Michael Dowling when he says to break down the wall between union employees and management. Take responsibility for morale and RAISE it.!!! Let people rise through the ranks and be promoted like every other organization in America.
