    Pros

Interesting material to learn in the Long Term Care insurance biz

    Cons

I was uneasy in the interview and almost did not accept the offer. I wish I had declined. The interview left me with an impression of a cynical, fast-paced, demanding, devil-may-care culture. I decided to take the risk anyway hoping my impression was wrong - it wasn't. I've been given little to no training save for what I can scrounge to read and find on my own. When I do sit with a co-worker for "training" - training consist of I lecture you as fast as I can for 15 minutes to a half hour if you are lucky. You better retain everything I say to you the first time. If you ask me subsequent follow-up questions for clarification the first time you are doing your work, you probably weren't listening the first time at al or that is a stupid question. But at the same time you better be very careful and not make any mistakes or your name will be mud. I've been here just a little over a month - brand new to the company and industry and that it my experience. If you join LTCG I hope yours is a better one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clueless - it can take years to turn a ship like this around if this is how all departments at LTCG work. Hopefully people can adapt. But it sounds like from what I've heard LTCG and Univita - its former parent company - do have a turnover problem.

I worked at Long Term Care Group

    Pros

The executive leadership team is very friendly and approachable.

    Cons

The company has poor communication. The middle senior leadership is terrible. It's like elementary school. There are roomers flying everywhere, all the time. In appropriate things that should not be discussed. Very unprofessional. Navigating IT is a nightmare. If you want a project done....it better be billable or it won't get priority. People are nice until they want to advance, then they will trample on you all for their own personal gain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes and pay attention to what is REALLY going on with directors and managers.

    Pros

Newer company and product so the change in market drives continual new system enhancements.

    Cons

Lack of communication due to the fast paced changes, especially when reversing original decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to communicate often in different formats. Information does not make it down to the lower levels and then rumor mills start.

    Cons

I worked at Long Term Care Group

    Pros

Most management honestly seemed to make an effort.
Comparable salaries and packages, and job security.
Reward programs available to honor excellence.

    Cons

Morale seems to be a constant struggle. Whether dealing with the clientele (Often it is upset relatives of dying or sick loved ones) or the pushiness of leadership to meet goals in the face of an understaffed office.

While programs are available to reward excellence, there is a higher priority on identifying negatives. Workers are scrutinized heavily during their work weeks.

    Heavy turnover in departments.

Constant mood swings in the morale, likely due to the general practice of admonishing ALL workers if one screws-up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work strong to improve the morale of the office and curb the cut throat nature of the office.

One example would be to not interrupt a busy work day, dragging large sections of the entire office into a meeting room to openly and angrily admonish and threaten ALL employees due to the actions of one careless employee who may have unintentionally violated HIPAA regulations.
