Challenging and sometimes frustrating for the wrong reasons

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsGood Benefits, Nice People. There are some very great opportunities for learning and advancement.

ConsMost "promotions" come with more responsibilities but no money. Documentation and process is poor to non-existent , so sometimes it feels like you have to reinvent the wheel for every job. Much of the management seems to make decisions just for the sake of making decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you say that something is going to happen in the Monthly General Meeting, do it. Promises are bandied about constantly, but are very rarely delivered. Be a little harsher on non-preforming employees, there's tons of good people out there looking for jobs, you don't have to constantly hire diamond-in-the-roughs just to squeeze a couple of extra dollars out.

    So So experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

    ProsGreat People
    Good Team Work
    Willingness to help clients

ConsSr. Management is out of touch with actual events occuring within organization.
Sales Team takes precedence over all others including Key consultants (this negatively effects overall collaboration and the end result to the clients)
Over time is expected, but not rewarded.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to actually learn the issues in each Branch and work with each Branch Manager to resolve identified issues.

If it(they) sounds too good to be true, then it probably is...

    Systems Consultant (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

Prosthe best(only) reason to work at Long View is the money and the free lunches.

Conslots of hours. heavy on the work when considering the work/life balance.
lots of self praise - way more than what is deserved. it creates a cult-like atmosphere, where descent is not tolerated.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay in Canada, eh!

    Growth, opportunity and relationships!

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsIf you are motivated and ambitious, the sky is the limit. With a growth company comes tons of opportunities. If you are good at what you do, you are recognized and rewarded. Great people, always care about you and your life. Amazing contributions to the community and abroad. Great benefits, great parties, tons of fun!

ConsHolds on to tenured people too long
    Incentive plan promotes wrong behaviors

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to realign structure of some teams to get more effectiveness (shared services and internal systems). Unfortunately loyal to a fault - if people aren't performing we should let them go even though they have been with the company a really long time. Could increase communications with various initiatives going on. Should change incentive plan to promote more collaboration instead of individual accomplishment

Don't Waste Your Valuable Career Here

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Vancouver, BC (Canada)

ProsGreat to travel, some free food and drinks

ConsThere is a common theme within the negative reviews and I would whole heartedly agree that they definitely hold the same poor experience as mine.

This company has a significant tendency for favoritism and nepotism. For a company that is 'apparently' growing fast, it is very difficult to judge based on the shortage of compensation increases or lack thereof.

If you are serious about this company, do your diligence and gather written commitments on your compensation structure or you will have none after you are onboarded till the you threaten to quit. Everything is kept on spreadsheets and decisions are made arbitrarily depending on who you are, who you have beers with or rub shoulders with. Yes, it really is one of those companies sadly to say.

I would add that Long View is a 3rd tier consulting company and management lack experience outside of their bubble. Their projects are tiny and you will be worked and pressured to take on double digit projects to maximize your billing making the whole experience very frustrating and compromising for both ends.

Be ware of this company - it is truly not worth your time - they make themselves out to be more successfully and fast growing than they really are to build excitement. Something has to give to maintain growth and that is the employees.

Lastly, it is hard not to notice there were three SHORT and seemingly great reviewsjust before this one within 1-2 days in a row trying to cover up the negative ones. Not saying they are fake but it is something that is very suspicious and something that is not a surprise from the management team having to resort to such tactics.

Advice to Senior ManagementLead by example. Your people are the foundation of the company.

Core Pillars are Made of Mud!

    Anonymous (Former Employee)

ProsNo management presence what so ever! So you can basically do whatever you want.they don't have a clue!

Some really great technical talent to work and learn from. Such a shame they don't go to a company that would appreciate them more. So many better places to work.

ConsThis company is the most fake organization I have ever seen. Everything is propaganda! They only involve themselves in anything they can can smear their name over for attention or if they feel they can get some free publicity.

Don't believe the hype around how fast they are growing or what an awesome company they say they are! All BS, and believe me, you will see it about 2 weeks after you start...they don't deliver what they say, and they will forget about you fast!

Ask them how many employees it took to get to their current number! Most likely double of what they are! Turn over is crazy high!

You only succeed if you like kissing butt! If they can control you, then you will get promoted!

They hate people whom stand up for themselves...If you are one, a dead end career.

You can tell that this company is solely driven by money!

Advice to Senior ManagementGrow a back bone and stopping conning your employees and your clients! Deliver, and stop talking about how great you are! Anyone with some common sense knows, talk is cheap!

    Over promised, under delivered

    Systems Consultant (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

    Pros-Excellent training program
-OK compensation, good benefits package, good RRSP bonus (if you catch them short on talent or are an excellent negotiator)
    -Good bonus structure
    -Great camaraderie among consultants
-Good company if you're looking for a stepping stone to IT management
-Fairly decent mobility in the company, but depends on specific managers

Cons-Was sold on opportunities and compensation on hiring that never materialized
-Very "clique-ish": better get "in" with the right people and the right extra curricular activities
-Non-existent on-boarding process. More a "trial by fire"
-Very ineffective management that does not know the workings of the company or be able to answer questions in a timely manner
-Consultants being shuffled around managers/leads with no one having any real clue what's going on
-Inconsistent raises among employees doing the same work with the same effectiveness

Advice to Senior ManagementConsultants are the bread and butter of the organization and they are not being heard. Most requests are minimal but still take months to process through the ranks. Managerial shuffle forces employees to repeat their career goals to new people all the time.
