    Pros

Small company so you can be kept in the loop about things.

    Cons

They sometimes go about doing things the long way and with no end result.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Longaberger full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Employees are nice.. That's the only pro I can come up with

    Cons

I worked there for 28 yrs.. And you go backwards.. No raises they take away benefits.. It's a dirty place.. At one time it was a good place to work.. You will never advance.. it's the only place I ever heard of that takes from your hourly wage. Very stressful job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees fair... Way to much favoritism .

Once the BEST employer in the SE Ohio and I'm still proud to say I worked for this wonderful company. It's too bad the overall community can't give this same respect.

    Cons

Select Business Leaders inability to make important business decisions needed to move the business forwatd causing much frustration to all those reaponsible for running the day to day business (Commonly known as the Worker Bees)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your focua on the core values of what made Longaberger the successful business it once was and can be again by listening, observing and empowering your employees.
Engage Tami, Rachel and their immediate families more in the business giving them the opportunity to promote their family heritage.
Look for the diamonds in the rough. Sometimes they will surprise you when provided the opportunity.

I worked at Longaberger full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Comp is good and up to par with market values. Goals are clear, achievable, realistic. Leadership is open minded. Good work-life balance - excellent really. Great benefits.

    Cons

Their niche market is rapidly aging and losing their purchasing power. Yet the company struggles to adapt to younger generations and develop / innovate product to appeal to these new types of customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep protecting the Longaberger culture in the face of adversity - it's the best culture ever, and definitely worth fighting for. And - innovate, think young and technology!
Adapt to market requirements, even if it means more offshoring to stay competitive or to try new product with less risk.

Current Employee - Basket Maker in Frazeysburg, OH

I have been working at Longaberger full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

As a basket maker you're pretty much your own boss. You can make the minimum amount or much more. It's all up to you.

    Cons

The company seemed to keep adding more and more responsibilities to the basket maker without increasing the compensations to make it worth the trouble. It was hard to make the money that you were used to making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management was constantly changing. As they were trying to cut back on expenses they got rid of the management that was making the most money regardless of their quality of work.

Former Employee - Assistant Buyer in Newark, OH

    I worked at Longaberger

    Pros

The company does offer wonderful working atmosphere and flexible schedules.

    Cons

Current market conditions have caused a large amount of layoffs. They also had a variety of positions where I was never really sure what exactly they were doing or getting paid for. Also it seemed the company didn't truly value an employee until they had found another position and were considering leaving before they promoted or offered an increase in pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend that Senior Management look at their salaries and examine who is really contributing and making money for the company through those initiatives and contributions and reward those with financial rewards.
