    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've worked for this hospital over 15 years and there's nowhere else I would rather be. Their commitment to excellence is unsurpassed and they consistently support their employees through educational opportunities, referral bonuses, and fabulous managers.

    Cons

I honestly can't think of any.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

    Pros

Positive work environment. Opportunity to work without being micro managed.

    Cons

Not within easy commuting distance from Denver, Colorado. Not much opportunity for career advancement due tot the small size of the hospital.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice co-workers only if they're your equal. Not management, providers nor HR personnel is helpful especially within the Milestone Group. Short commute, excited to support local business and community.in which I grew up in.

    Cons

Plan on nice managers and HR personnel that will pretend to help you for awhile, but will at some point stab you in the back. Will twist and turn words around only to benefit themselves. Truly incompetent management (ie. answers employee questions with a question thrown back at you, high turn over rates, manager won't step in and answer a phone call). Severe lack of business management and ethic skills, office managers are "grandfathered in" from billing experience... what!? No requirement from upper management to further education. Not a calm, relaxed, fun working environment, always looking over your shoulder, bickering among staff including doctors,

    Advice to Management

Seriously look at the turn over rate especially at Milestone OB/GYN. It screams "help!" "we need a manager who knows what their doing!" There is such a lack of leadership, guidance, ownership and favoritism among certain employees. These employees brown nose management and providers, and are allowed to work at LUH even without being a "certified Medical assistant". Perhaps that's why there was that issue back in 3/14 where a patient complained about getting her blood drawn - E.L. Manager consistently avoids patient requests to speak with her whether it be a customer service issue or a billing question. Positive STI results given to wrong patient. Not a detail oriented office, young pretentious providers, doctors are in and out with patients more about quantity vs. quality. And this organization claims to be a "Planetree" Hospital.....I don't think so....far from it.

I have been working at Longmont United Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Personnel were polite. Good place to practice your political correctness.

    Cons

Didn't quite know what they really wanted. Do not keep their promises. Alot of political/office backstabbing. You really need to watch everything you say or the other staff will use it against you.

    Advice to Management

Be sure you understand what and who you need to hire and follow up on your promises.

I have been working at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Better staffing ratios than nearby hospitals, nursing governance councils are very important to LUH. Salaries and benefits are competitive. LUH is a great small hospital and For being so small they really offer a lot to their employees and community. Overall, staff is very supportive of one another, and if you are wanting to advance your career, there are opportunities for advancement if your willing to work hard. The hospital really goes above and beyond to provide patient centered care, which means we usually have very happy patients as well.

    Cons

There are many employees who have been there for a very long time, and are consistently bad mouthing LUH because they are burnt out, which is frustrating, because it really is a great place to work. We are lucky to work here, especially after hearing what other nearby hospitals are going through. And just like any healthcare system, there is an aura of uncertainty because of all the healthcare changes.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the awesome work and be honest with staff about any upcoming changes.

    Advice to Management

get ahead of the curve for real health care/health change both within the hospital walls and within the community

    Pros

The senior management team is very transparent with mid level managers. They "get it" when it comes to what is most important. HR does a good job of keeping pay fair and in line with the industry across all jobs. The best part is that LUH is an independent, non-profit institution. This allows agility in leadership that allow managers the ability to change the organization for the better. Coming from a much larger company where creating change was next to impossible, I really appreciate this.

    Cons

As an independent hospital there is limited growth opportunities. Larger hospitals or health systems might offer opportunities to grow to a higher level.

    Advice to Management

Fight hard to keep LUH viable as an independent institution and not acquired by a larger Health System.
