Cons
lack of structure and organization brought down a good company

Decent pay, great discount, good career advancement opportunities. Small teams, plenty of payroll, and nice stores, especially those with the TVA upgrade.
Cons
Long hours and 24 hour stores
Advice to Senior Management
I sure miss Longs. CVS has nothing on you.
Pros
-Flexible hours
-Management easy to communicate with
-Good pay for a first job
Cons
-Customers hard to please sometimes
-Not much opportunity for a raise
Advice to Senior Management
Keep an open, communicative relationship with employees.
Pros
Usually the people at longs drug have a certain culture about them. Generally friendly, down to earth people that are not out to get you.
Cons
Although senior management has a tendency to make promises, be sure to negotiate everything with the specific store manager you are planning on being stationed at. There is nothing they did wrong, just make sure you aren't making agreements with people that are not overseeing your hiring process.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't make promises that cannot be delivered to the new employee. There should be a better connection between your area supervisors and pharmacy managers.
Pros
The advancement of Longs to a position as a market leader using industry best practices was managed in an appropriately balanced manner driving necessary change in a timely manner while maintaining a positive work environment for the long term employees.
Cons
Change is always difficult and presented challenges for those employees who were reluctant to embrace improvements necessary to compete in a rapidly evolving retail marketplace.
Advice to Senior Management
The senior management at Longs drove improvements necessary to maximize shareholder value and returns.
Pros
you get to meet a lot of interesting people (customers), and work in a mostly clean, safe environment. regular hours and decent pay.
Cons
those interesting people are the ones who will stress you out, as customers complain a lot (and can't seem to find anything for themselves).
Advice to Senior Management
try to boost morale and encourage social activities between employees. they are too cut off with each other, and it doesn't feel like a company family environment.
Pros
It was a good opporutntiy to work as a cashier at longs. Worked with many fun and interesting people. I would recommend to my friends.
Cons
Lack of growth at the company, small raises, management was juvinille at times and this corporation is selling out. to cvs.
Advice to Senior Management
I would recommend that the org. take better measures in ensuring emploee satisfaction and engagment. Have team building excersizes and bbq's.
