ConsIf you good at the job you are in it is very hard to move on from it and move up. The pay seems to be lower than average. Company is very top heavy.

There is sufficient opportunity to learn and grow. Poor and talentless leadership is the greatest downfall.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Portsmouth, NH

ProsHealth benefits, opportunity, location, challenging, rewarding, many great systems in place, LEAN Mfg practices and OE principles are taught and supported.

ConsWork load, Pay, work life balance, frustrating management, sometimes OE tools are not used correctly, can not count on bonus even when site performs well, no pension, no stocks, 401k match is too low considering low salaries and no other retirement plan..

Advice to Senior ManagementProfessionalism, customer focus, soft skills, talent, education, appropriate communication, and true employee appreciation are key. Just moving people into leadership positions because of tenure is a grave mistake.

Life at Lonza is what you make of it.

    Manufacturing Associate II (Current Employee)
    Portsmouth, NH

ProsLonza is a great company for motivated people. In my experiance I have never been told no, you can't do that unless it's been for a good reason. Associates encourage their peers and are willing to help new associates learn. Career advancement is fair and rewards hard workers. Management definitly leads and communicates.

ConsOn the flip side to highly mootivated associates there are people at Lonza that like where they are and don't want to challenge themselves...people have been in the same position for year which works for them but can be frustrating to work with at times when tasks need to be done.

Advice to Senior ManagementI am proud to work for Lonza, please continue to create value for employees.

Prosnice environment, friendly colleagues, great location, opportunity to learn and grow within the company, decent cafe and great price

Conspromotions don't come by like they should, not enough recognition for the amount of work you do, some of the equipments in use are behind on technology

Advice to Senior Managementupgrade your equipments, if you want to keep your employees, give them more recognition and pay raise, replace a few people in management

    Lonza - a busy place

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Portsmouth, NH

ProsThere is plenty of customer work coming in to Lonza, and opportunities to see many different (and often challenging) processes. It is a great place to get rapid experience and see a sampling of many different processes coming from small pharma and big industry leaders alike.

ConsLonza values Operational Excellence and Lean operations. However, many groups feel that things are now too lean for the current workload. Lonza seems to be tiptoeing on a razor's edge, and I can't help but feel like they will see some regrettable turnover from overworking people once the economy loosens up.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn this lean environment, it is important to develop employees and promote those individuals who are contributing a significant amount to the company.
