I worked at Lord & Taylor

    Pros

    Nothing! Nothing! Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!

    Cons

The managers are white unprofessionals. They practice favoritism. The company doesn't support education and students. The wage is low. Employees gossip way too much! Uncomfortable environment. The worst!

I have been working at Lord & Taylor

    Pros

The schedules are flexible. Most receiving associates only work one weekend per month. Managers do a great job with scheduling to balance work and life.

    Cons

There is no opportunity for advancement. The management training program ended a few years ago. Managers constantly cut hours. If an associate finishes their work early, they are sent home.

I have been working at Lord & Taylor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working in an air condition building(summer time), inside of a mind numbing mall.
Earning ''Commissions'' great for holidays. But that is a scam

    Cons

Commissions(scam), if you dont sell enough You owe the company money. Yes you owe them.
8.25 an hour/ and they ASK YOU TO DO A LOT.
You are a glorified/over worked stock worker.
Its disgusting to work in general giving the management is always filled with ''paper-pushing'' inspiring suit wearing jackasses who are narcissistic and work more like machines rather than human beings.
Managers, general managers, employees, all enjoy playing their Sheeple role. Its disgusting the how low humanity sinks for such inferiors ways of working.
In most if not all retail/mall Jobs, You are treated like a machine that is the functions of capitalism, the managers and their bosses embody the wickedness of selfish Men and their desires.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, you guys have the system in perfect control. The pay is disgusting giving that LOW level employees are the ones who maintain and sell the products. Scheduling is horrible STOP EXPLOITING POOR PEOPLE. Your over lords dont care for you, the store is ran by middle men and women who are trying to appease the overlords. Please advocate change for the better of the poor little kids who make the shoes

I worked at Lord & Taylor

    Pros

It's a great place to work if you're in school and looking for something part time and temporary - Dont count on this being long term

    Cons

Management treats employees like store property - they do not care about you. Many coworkers in my store (Albany) were screamed at and bullied by management for bringing concerns to them or for having low sales (which sometimes cannot be controlled, you can't sell to people that don't come in the store). There's also zero opportunity to be promoted, they prefer to hire outside the company for that. Most employees burn out within 6 months (you also have to pay back your employee discount if you're fired or you quit before 6 months)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees like people, not property, and try actually listening to them. Belittling and demeaning store associates is not acceptable under any circumstance

I have been working at Lord & Taylor (more than a year)

    Pros

Definitely not as stressful as some of the other Department stores.

    Cons

Outdated equipment for Sales and Support Staff.
A perceived allergy to hire and develop managers from within.
    Consistently short staffed.
Littler room for advancement for current employees.

    Pros

    There are no pros.

    Cons

For a store that is so expensive the pay is terrible. There's no way you can move up the ladder with this company unless you're friends with someone in management. The Stamford branch was unorganized and scheduling was horrible. I would not recommend this job to anyone. I was a student working here
