I have been working at Lorillard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, company car, decent pay. Not micro managed, on your own most days. Fast paced and competitive environment. Co workers are helpful.

    Cons

Company has been sold and will be split between Commonwealth Altadis and RJR. Future is uncertain at best. Tobacco sales are trending down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    CEO sold everyone out.

    Pros

Benefits, company car, flexible schedule, pay is good

    Cons

Company is being sold, CEO is a sell out! CEO cares nothing for the history of our company. CEO is a crook like all the rest of the Executives shifting stock money around. CEO says great things about the company & employees, if it was so good why do you jump ship?

    I worked at Lorillard full-time

    Pros

Company Car, Great Benefits, Great Pay. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone who is not afraid of a little hard work. You must have a road warrior heart and be willing to develop relationships with store personnel of all cultures and backgrounds. It's not as much of a sales position than it is a merchandising and inventory position.

    Cons

There's not a lot of room for advancement in this particular position. You are welcome to apply to other job categories, but there is little room for advancement in sales, that is of course unless your district or regional sales manager retires. Other con .. future of tobacco industry is in question ...

I have been working at Lorillard full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Historically generous salary and benefits. No lay-offs in the past, Lean company that can make decisions quickly when prudent. Not a lot of red tape.

    Cons

Pending acquisition by RAI and transfer of employees and facilities to Imperial Tobacco. Uncertainty for some employees which company they will work for after acquisition is complete and what salary/benefits will be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to communicate and consider a retention bonus - very talented and skilled employees are likely to leave due to uncertainty for future salary and benefits.

Current Employee - Senior Research Chemist in Greensboro, NC

I have been working at Lorillard full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company does allow you to leave to handle family emergencies without providing any notice. However, this benefit is dependent on your manager and some managers pressure their people to disregard their families.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunity. Apathy of management for employee concerns. The higher level layers of management are growing, but the number of lower level employees doing the work are diminishing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you don't care about employee opinion, it is less insulting to not ask than to ask and ignore.
